Meet Caesar

Caesar the Miracle Dog

Why is Caesar a Sponsor Dog?

When Caesar came into Daybreaks he was unfortunately diagnosed with cancer and given 6-9 months to live. Three years later Caesar is still going strong! Due to Caesar’s condition Daybreaks will always be there for him and as the future is unknown, Daybreaks decided to find him a long-term fosterer where he can live out his days as a Daybreaks Sponsor dog.

Here’s what Caesar’s fosterer says about him.

Meet Caesar, our unstoppable foster dog with a spirit as big as his appetite! Diagnosed with a mast-cell tumour and given just 6 to 9 months to live, Caesar decided that wasn’t nearly enough time for all the fun he had planned. Now, three years later, he’s still here, living his best life and making us all wonder if he’s simply too busy to pop his clogs. As someone said, “He’s having way too much fun to die”—which is brilliant for Caesar.

Caesar and his trusty sidekick, Barney, are our ‘Good Naughty Boys,’ a tag team of mischief and charm. Caesar’s taken full ownership of the living room, particularly the bit of the sofa that used to belong to Charlotte. Now, it’s his throne! And don’t get me started on his love for food—if breakfast were an Olympic event, Caesar would be a gold medallist. Twice a day, like clockwork, he gets so excited for his meals you’d think he was auditioning for an advert.

He also loves his walks and can be found standing eagerly by the stairs as soon as he senses we’re off out. Sunbathing is another favourite pastime, although he’s also fond of squeezing onto the sofa, regardless of whether or not you’re already sitting there! Despite his sensitive side, Caesar has strong opinions on doing exactly what he wants—like trying to chase every cat he lays eyes on (sorry, local moggies).

In the years we’ve had him, he’s become a pro at basic training (though we’re still working on that ‘don’t chase the cats’ part). I even used Caesar to show of his skill during dog training taster sessions. Nights? Oh, well, there’s only one place he wants to be—snuggled right next to me in bed, much to my wife’s dismay. We know his time is precious, but for now, Caesar’s making every moment count, far beyond what we ever expected
