Daybreaks Fostering Opportunities
Some dogs find themselves, through no fault of their own, needing more support than the average home can provide. At Daybreaks, we recognize that foster care is often the more suitable option. Some dogs require long-term support, whereas others it’s on a short-term basis. Temporary foster homes often help a Greyhound in finding their home as they give a great view of the dogs personality within a home environment.
Whilst we have dogs in foster throughout the year we are always in particular need of foster homes for the Christmas period.
Fostering a sponsor dog can be an incredibly rewarding experience. It offers the chance to make a significant difference to a Greyhound’s future. Additionally, it helps to free up space in kennels for other Greyhounds in need.
Fosterer Responsibilities:
Our foster families are dedicated individuals who provide a loving and stable environment, for as long as they can help.
- Provide the dog with a safe and comfortable environment
- To care for the dog in the way we have outlined
- To inform us of any issues the dog has (medically or behaviourally)
Our Responsibility:
- Daybreaks cover agreed food and veterinary costs associated with our foster dogs’ care. This support eases the financial burden on foster families, allowing them to focus on giving the dogs the best possible care.
- Daybreaks will always have the dog back if the foster carer is no longer in the position to care for them
- Support, guide, and help with our foster carers’ journey
For those who cannot commit to fostering, there are other ways to support our dogs, such as through donations, volunteering
Whether you choose to foster, donate, or volunteer, your efforts can profoundly impact Greyhound lives.
