Important Information
Don’t be fooled by their athletic history – it’s a common misconception that Greyhounds are energetic and need a lot of exercise. In retirement these dogs are all about that sleep life. Most Greyhounds are actually quite lazy and enjoy two short walks a day and then are happy to sleep all day.
First Steps
Embarking on the journey to adopting a Greyhound begins with scheduling a visit to our kennels. During your visit, our team will guide you in selecting the right dog for you, help you complete an application form, and introduce you to the Greyhounds under our care. Our experienced staff will discuss the specific characteristics and needs of the dog you are interested in. You will have the chance to interact with and get to know the dogs during your visit.
Once you have found your new family member, you can proceed with a reservation and a home check. Upon successful completion of the home check, you can finalize the paperwork and welcome your new best friend into your home.
Take all the time you need to find the perfect Greyhound for you. We are here to assist you every step of the way, matching a Greyhound with your lifestyle to ensure a forever bond between you and your furry friend.
Step 1 - Your application and meeting the dogs
Our experienced team will help you fill in an application form, you will then get to meet the dogs. We will help you to find the best possible match!
Step 2 - Reservation and home check
Once you have chosen your new best friend, you can reserve them for £25, allowing us to then carry out a home check. This is nothing to worry about, if anything isn’t quite right, we can advise you on practical steps you can take to make your home more Greyhound friendly!
Adoption Steps
Step 3 - Paperwork and Q&A
Once your home check is passed, we can work towards finalising your paperwork. We ensure there’s ample time to answer any questions and ensure you’re fully prepared. A £200 minimum donation (minus £25 if a deposit was paid) is taken at the point of taking your new best friend home!
Step 4 - Lifetime support and advice
Daybreaks offers lifetime support and advice to all of our new dog owners. We are there every step of the way.
