I’m Homed
A lovely family visited the kennels yesterday. They brought with them a huge bag of food, treats and toys for our boys and girls in memory of special family member. They spent some time meeting our current Daybreaks guests, who loved all the extra attention and treats! I think their favourite was fabulous little Polly, who was very exuberant in her meet and greet routine! :)) We so grateful to them for their kindness and generosity. Thank you all so much ((Kate)

Over the Rainbow Bridge
Ella’s Dad Phil, arranged a fabulous delivery of goodies for usfrom his local Iceland store last Saturday. It included food and treats for the Daybreaks boys and girls, treats for the volunteers and cakes and snacks for our upcoming Birthday party. He sent it all in memory of his beautiful Ella and Rio. We are so very grateful to Phil and to his friend at Iceland who helps Phil with the ordering! Thinking of Ella and Rio. They were very much loved and very happy hounds!! Xxx (Kate)

Goodness me it was flipping hot this morning! 🥵 Gold Star Clean Kennel Award for the second week in a row goes jointly to Gino & Buck - 2 lovely easy kennels to deal with, thank you boys! It’s been a challenge keeping cool this week, but hopefully the weather forecast is offering us a bit of respite. Honestly, when it’s too hot I complain and when it’s too cold I complain - need to find me a climate that’s “just right!”. We have some viewings booked this weekend so keep everything crossed that some more of our boys & girls find that special home 🤞 We are all geared up and raring to go for our Summer Fayre next weekend. There’s lots to see and do, and our Grand Birthday raffle is being drawn at the close of the event, so there’s still time to get your tickets from the kennels or pick them up on the day. Keep yourselves and your hounds cool and safe and have a great weekend. Angie x

Over the Rainbow Bridge
We loved you, Rio, you big, goofy, loveable dog. You pulled/knocked me over a couple of times, and your Mom and dad more than a few times! Yet you were so easygoing and amiable. We loved you and miss you 😢❤️

Goodbye, beautiful girl 😢 You worked and you were exploited in your early life, until you were no longer 'useful'. But you found a forever family via Day breaks, where you were very much loved and lived happily until a grand old age. You've left a void, especially as we've also recently lost your bff, Rio, who was adopted with you. We'll sorely miss you both 😢❤️

It is with great sadnees that Ella's owner, Phil called today to say Ella is now at Rainbow Bridge. Xxx He asked me to add the following comment... "Thank you Ella for the last wonderful eight years. You were an absoulutely beautiful and perfect girl. Partner in crime with your beloved Rio. You are now reunited at Ranbow Bridge, together forever. Will love and miss you both always. XXX" We are so grateful to Phil and Sylvia for giving Rio and Ella wonderful happy and very long lives! Xxx Sending them much love at this very sad time. Xxx (Kate)

It was a warm one this morning, and I must admit to “glowing” by the time we’d finished scrubbing kennels! 😂 My Gold Star Clean Kennel award was shared today by our lovely Gino and gorgeous newbie Buck- well done boys! Buck really is a stunning looking fella, very friendly and cuddly. Other new arrival Polly is a dainty little girl with such a sweet face. After the excitement of last weekends Volunteer celebration, it’s full steam ahead with plans for our Greyhound Summer Fayre which is only 2 weeks away now. We’re still on the lookout for folk to lend a hand on the day, either manning a stall or looking after a Trust dog. If you can spare some time, even an hour, we’d love to hear from you. Don’t forget our grand birthday raffle is being drawn at the Fayre, so there’s still time to get your tickets to be in with a chance to win a great prize. Enjoy the weekend, and as temperatures look set to rise over the coming week, you and your hounds stay safe and cool ❄️ Angie x

Just got back from our volunteer thank you event at Birmingham Exiles - and what a great day it was. So lovely for volunteers past and present to have the chance to chat and exchange memories and stories. Huge thanks to Luci, Kate, Natalie and their team for researching and collating so much data and information. Luci and Natalie gave a great visual presentation, and then our volunteers were thanked for their service and received certificates of recognition. Congratulations go to our longest serving volunteer Alison, who has served Daybreaks for 18 years. Many thanks to our friends and neighbours Birmingham Exiles for hosting us. We celebrated the past and present today, but now it's onwards and upwards as we move forward and continue to care for and find loving homes for the fabulous Greyhounds that find their way to Daybreaks.
