Ragnar
I’m Available
The name Ragnar has its origins in ancient Scandinavian history. Most notably a legendary Viking hero. The name has come to symbolise bravery, strength and leadership. Our beautiful Ragnar, is a big, gentle and shy lad. The wind blowing the kennels doors shut frightened him this morning. Xx He is a brave boy, coping with big changes in his life. In the right home he will become a wonderful friend and companion. Xxx (Kate)

Daybreaks Diary!
I’m Homed
It was nice to be dry and a bit warmer this morning! I met our new boy Ragnar - oh what a stunner he is. A big boy, he is so calm and has the most amazing eyes that look right into your heart. Out in the feeding runs he was not interested in the bouncy Chalky, who was desperately trying to get him to play, or noisy Mr Bob who was barking in his face!!! We have a kennel full of boys at the minute! Our long stayers Dazzle, Bob and Buzz have been with us for a while now and are desperate for a home of their own. Although we love to look after them, a kennels environment is not really the best for them and we would love to get them settled on a comfy sofa. We saw the gorgeous Duke off to his to his forever home this afternoon - wishing him and his new family lots of happy times ahead 😀 Have a great weekend one and all, and give your hounds lots of cuddles! Angie x

Maya
Over the Rainbow Bridge
Cath, Maya’s Foster mum has asked us to add the following words for her special girl… “Sadly Maya went over the Rainbow Bridge on the 11th of February 2026, at the age of 13 years 8 months (and a day). She was poorly over the weekend and despite a trip to the dog doctor, she went downhill quite quickly. She went to sleep very peacefully and her ashes are in my garden where she spent time enjoying sunshine and companionship. In the 18 months she was at Chez Locke she was one of the naughtiest dogs to ever live there! She chewed the pockets out of a number of jackets in search of edibles, requiring anew set of coat hooks set at a height she couldn’t reach. There was an emergency vet trip when she discovered a (small) Christmas chocolate stash. Much was learned about how little cocoa there is in some choc bars! She even managed to open what had been considered a dog proof drawer to locate (and scof) some jam donuts. She was a regular at greyhound playgroup on Saturday mornings and enjoyed meeting other pointy noses and going into the café after the walk where sossidges and other doggy delicacies were shared. As she got older walks were limited to short sniffy trips to the grassy area just over the road from home. She was a grand old lady and such a character.”

We've just lost our greyhound that we got from yourselves. Would love to take Chalky home, though our kids are younger than 13, having said that, they are both used to both greyhounds, and boisterous, active dogs 🙂
