Daybreaks Diary!
I’m Homed
Another lovely morning this morning, and with only 5 residents it was all a bit quiet and calm for a change! Some good clean kennels meant we had cleaning and feeding done in record time and were ready to start the day in good time. Our sweet little Lady is still very reluctant to return to her kennel once she’s come out and usually digs her heels in - but today we were able to feed her alongside the lovely Scooby and she accompanied Scooby back to the kennels without a problem after breakfast. She needs a companion to show her the way, and she has bonded with Scooby - if only we were able to find them a home together 🙏❤️ We took advantage of being quiet to get all those myriad of little jobs that always take second place sorted, and took advantage of it as we have 4 new arrivals scheduled for the coming week. Handsome Bullet had a viewing so it’s 🤞for him. Enjoy your weekend one and all, the year is rushing by. Angie x

Bullet went to the park yesterday for the first time. He walked with one of our volunteers. Bullet did very well to get to the park as we had to walk along a busy road with lots of traffic. Bullet was a little nervous of the lorries that went past but did really well and seemed to like to walk with the other dogs. In the park Bullet saw an off lead dog. Bullet was interested but disengaged and continued to walk in the opposite direction. Bullet also saw a few squirrels and again was interested but managed to disengage. Bullet did very well for his first park visit. Thank you to one of our volunteers for taking him!

Jag went to the park yesterday for the first time. He was a bit keen to begin with but this is probably because it was a new place for him. He saw a dog that was off lead and was interested but did not show any reactions. He also saw a couple of squirrels and disengaged from them and carried on walking in the other direction. Overall Jag did very well for his first trip to the park.

Lady’s been back at the kennels for a couple of weeks but I’ve taken her out for walks in Elmdon park a few times to see what we can do to keep her walking. She’s really keen on a walk for at least half an hour, with lots of sniffing and looking at her surroundings, especially if she’s somewhere new, and only stops if she sees another dog or people and that’s just to watch them. She’s very inquisitive and likes to see what’s going on! Once they’ve walked away or in another direction, she carries on walking. Later in the walk she stops for no apparent reason, but after just standing and waiting with her, she moves on again within a minute or two. She just needs a bit of time and patience and she keeps walking so needs someone who doesn’t mind waiting on and off and isn’t in a hurry. She is very sweet and loves fuss.
