We had a busy day today, Laura had lots of clients for pampers and nail clipping. Great to see so many lovely Greyhounds and their families. Xxx Thank you so much to everyone who brought donations of bedding, food and treats in for our boys and girls. :)). Our current Daybreaks Guests enjoyed all the extra fuss and attention. Xxx Thank you also to everyone who has recently arranged deliveries of food to the kennels. So very kind. :)) Thanks so much to everyone who helped at the kennels today. So very much appreciated. :)) Xxx

After taking Fred to Elmdon Park today I think he should be renamed "Fab Boy Fred" !!!!! He was an absolute delight to take out. He travelled well in the car even jumping in on his own on the return journey. He met other breeds of all sizes without any problems He was also fine meeting children. Fred walks sensibly on the lead and has a Happy friendly nature. A lovely lad just waiting for his loving home.

We had a new game for the girls and boys to try out today. It's called Push-n-pop treat dispenser. The idea is the dogs push it along and treats pop out! Well, Tiny absolutely loved it! She is a very clever girl and was soon happily pushing it around. Monty was great with it too. :)) Charlie was a little unsure of how hard to push it and Bob got bored quite quickly. :)) We give our residents enrichment every day. We have licki mats, snuffle mats, kongs, bone spinners and many other games for them to play with. It helps to stimulate their minds and give them something to look forward to. :)) A simple game to play at home is the "box game" Just collect all your empty boxes...egg boxes, serial boxes, tissue boxes, anything that you can put a few treats in. Then spread them around the garden or the lounge. Lyra and Cracker get so excited, running round looking for the treats. They also love ripping up the boxes! :)) Its lovely to see them having so much fun. Xxx Many thanks to Clare (Insight Hounds) for introducing me to the world of enrichment! Xxx

Such an incredibly warm day today but we filled up the paddling pools for our residents and were tempted to paddle too! Tiny had a viewing.... they have gone away to think about it and we had lots of visitors for the sand run and many corns, nails and well care appointments. All the residents enjoyed two walks, grooming, their enrichment games and the fans are on to keep them cool in the heat. I am very grateful to all our volunteers who have helped..... by giving up your time you have made a difference to the lives of the greyhounds currently at Daybreaks.... xxx I am stopping off on my way home to look at a poorly foot and tomorrow I am off to see Phoebe, check her corns and complete her adoption paperwork 🙂
