This adorable little girl had us all in stitches this morning. For reasons best known to herself, she’s decided that the water bowl doesn’t belong in the stand but she needs to sit on her bed with it in her mouth!!! We watched her diligently work it out of the ring, water going everywhere, then jump up on her bed and sit so proudly with it dangling out of her mouth. 😍 She’s an absolute sweetheart. X

Kylie has been to Crufts today! Such a super girlie working with our friends at Greyhound Trust on their stand. They recently arranged for Daybreaks to have a share of some free food from Pets at Home so it’s nice to be able to help them out too. She met and greeted so many people and children and saw other breeds (all sorts), wheelchairs, mobility scooters and crates on wheels of yappy dogs and she didn’t bat an eye. She really is ‘rock solid’ and so ready for a sofa of her own.

Kylie travelled well and has settled at my house. Fine with my greyhounds and little Pod too. We went on a longish walk straightaway and Kylie saw small dogs and cats and wasn’t bothered by either. She’s eaten well and is now chilling in the lounge with rubbish on the tv.

4/3/25 June today went to Elmdon Park She travelled well in the car and walked well on the lead also. She met other breeds and although caution may be needed with very small dogs was fine with all others A very attractive brindle girl with a reserved nature who I'm sure will be a wonderful addition to her permanent home when it arrives

    I’m Homed

Gino came to Elmdon Park with me again today. He behaved perfectly, as he has the other times. It was such a lovely day and there were lots of people and dogs in the park. He wasn't phased at all. He doesn't really seek out dogs to greet, but he is polite when they approach him. He ended up nose to nose with a spaniel again today. He enjoyed his walk and a lie down when we got back. He's a really handsome boy and I couldn't help but laugh at his ears today - both pointing in different directions. I was wondering what he was thinking.

Kylie is a lovely girl, very friendly and affectionate. She gets on well with other Greyhounds, she has met other breeds and has been very good with them. She likes going for walks and loves her food! She is a pleasure to have at the kennels. Xxx (Kate)

    Over the Rainbow Bridge

It is with immense sadness I heard from Rio’s dad that he has gone to Rainbow Bridge. He passed away peacefully early this morning with his family by his side. Xxx Phil, has asked me to add the following comment… “Rio was a big, clumsy lad with a huge heart. He was a real gentleman who loved life, loved his mom and dad and adored his Greyhound sister Ella. Xx He has been no trouble except when trying to cut the lawn or vacuum, when he would just lie in the way! It has been a real privilege to know him and love him. We are all missing him desperately, especially Ella who is heartbroken” Phil, Sylvia and Ella. Xxxx Thinking of you all, thank you so much for giving Rio a wonderful, long and happy life with you. Lots of love Kate and all at Daybreaks. Xxx

Don’t forget - our Dental Health Month drop-in session is tomorrow between 1.00pm and 2.00pm. There’s a free health check and tooth scrape for your hound, as well as promotions on dental products in the shop and a chance to get some raffle tickets for the draw taking place on the 28th. With dentals costing anywhere between £400 and £800, prevention is definitely better than cure! Laura will be on hand for advice and guidance, and we’ve got leaflets available to take away with you. I’m Homed

Gino came with me to Elmdon Park yesterday. He was an absolute star. We saw lots of dogs and he even came nose to nose with some of them. He behaved impeccably and was, once again, a pleasure to take out. He shows so much potential to make a brilliant pet. I hope someone soon falls for him and his goofy, very expressive ears!

    I’m Homed

I took Gino to Elmdon Park again today. Once again, he was an absolute pleasure. He walked calmly on a loose lead. We crossed paths several times with a Dachshund, who he showed no interest in. A westie came up to say hello as well and Gino took that in his stride. We even walked through lots of ducks and he didn't even bat an eyelid as they scattered in all directions. He's a real sweetie :-)

We are extremely lucky here at Daybreaks; our amazing trust dogs have been offered complimentary veterinary physiotherapy sessions every month by Stacey, a fully qualified and insured veterinary physiotherapist. Stacey visited yesterday, and it was a tremendous success as she treated all the trust dogs. It was heartwarming to witness them receiving on-to-one treatment, helping to make their athletic bodies more comfortable after years of racing. We discovered that while all our dogs are generally happy and healthy, but one of our boys is quite stiff and could benefit from some adjustments to help him feel better! We would never have realised this without Stacey's visit. Given our dogs' racing backgrounds, physiotherapy will be incredibly beneficial, allowing us to further enhance the welfare of our beautiful Greyhounds! The good news doesn’t end there... Discounted Physiotherapy Clinic Stacey is launching a discounted clinic for all rehomed ex-racing Greyhounds - right here at Daybreaks Kennels! Huge thanks to everyone who came along to our Valentine Open Day & Photoshoot yesterday. It was a bit chilly but stayed dry fortunately, and a good time was had by all. Many thanks to Sharron for her excellent photos, there’s a sneak peek on our Facebook page, and our other stall holders too. I’m delighted to say the day raised the incredible sum of £1021.38 - we’re so very grateful for your generosity and support. Angie x

    I’m Homed

I took Gino to Elmdon Park yesterday and he was a pleasure to be with. He walked at a lovely pace on a slack lead the entire time. We saw a few dogs, at a distance and up close. We didn't stop to greet them, but rather carried on walking past them. Gino was happy with this. I'm already looking forward to my next walk with him :-)
