Benny
I’m Homed
it is with a very heavy heart I have to let you know Benny will be coming back to the kennels tomorrow. 🙁 Benny can be very strong on the lead and reactive to other dogs. Sadly he pulled Monica, his owner over a few days ago. Thankfully she is ok but has a very sore arm and understandably feels he is too strong for her to manage. She is distraught to have to return him; she wanted so much for this to be his forever home. She says he is perfect in the house and gets on so well with her other two Greyhounds. Unfortunately Benny needs a home with someone who is stronger than Monica and can provide him with the training he needs to help him overcome his problem with other dogs, Monica wishes it could be her but physically she is not able to provide what he needs. We are so very grateful to her for giving him a chance. Xxx

Surprise 22 October 2005 - 26 November 2017 Our darling Surprise gained her angel wings this morning. Although she was 12 years old, her leaving us was very sudden and unexpected. She has been with us for less than 4 years - far too short a time. But it feels like she has been and should have been here forever. She has left a massive hole for Andy, me, Champ, Lottie, Daisy and Roxy. I am heartbroken. She came to us on foster originally. I remember the day Ruth brought her to the farm to see how she might be with our other dogs. She went straight over and took her place on the other dogs' beds and that's where she has been ever since. The day I brought her home, we stood in Daybreaks office and she rested her head on my chest and let me see deep into those lovely eyes into such a trusting soul. That moment was a privilege and I will remember forever. We were so lucky that she chose us to come to live with. Prisey, you have been and will always be my shadow, my precious girl but most of all my best friend and I can't say thank you enough. Although I know you are at peace now, saying goodbye to you has been so very, very difficult. Sleep well my angel, will always love you to bits xxxxxxxxxxx Mom x

This lovely girl stayed with us this weekend after her spay on Friday. She's quite nervous about anything new and didn't want to go in a different room without a lot of persuasion, but once there was absolutely fine. She has a lovely waggy tail and is so pleased to see you at every minute. She was a little growly with one of our girls but that seemed to be because of not having all the fuss and stopped when told a firm "no". She would be fine to have a home with other dogs as there were no other problems with our 3. She is a very lovely and pretty girl xx

We had the pleasure of the company of this beautiful little lady on the Brueton Park walk this morning. As Norman said previously, she hadn't a clue about getting into the car bless her - her face was a picture when we "assisted" her in!! She does travel nicely though, and delighted in squashing Michael all the way to the park! Initially she can be quite strong on the lead, and was doing a fair bit of weaving - but there was so much going on around her and loads of exciting things for her to look at! She behaved beautifully when encountering other breeds of all shapes and sizes, interest only being shown when she spotted off lead dogs doing zoomies, but no reaction other than raised ears. Which is a good job as on the way back to the car a rather over enthusiastic Golden Labrador launched himself at her - he was on a lead and just wanted to say hello, but crikey, if there was ever an other breeds test moment that was it!! Vera wasn't phased at all bless her. On the return leg we were at the front of the group and Vera wasn't surrounded by a crowd, and she walked much better - maybe she was getting tired, but I also think part of her initial weaving was because she couldn't see what was going on!! It was great to see some ex residents, other breeds and some of the kennel dogs all enjoying a lovely walk in the sunshine. Thank you for a lovely walk Vera, you were a really good girl. You returned to Daybreaks with your head in Michael's lap quietly snoozing (don't panic - I was driving!!!) and I felt quite guilty disturbing you when we arrived. Sleep well tonight sweetheart, and fingers crossed your very own home comes along soon . xxx

Hey Barney, miss you too! I had lots of fun today running on the beach, it is what mom refers to as 'very fresh' here, but wrapped up with the hat Auntie Deborah knitted me I was toasty. Mom looked at the lumpy land again, nothing had changed since last time! Glad you've discovered the squirrels, next time we are in Ward End Park we can try a 'pincer movement'. Lots of love to all. Florence xx
