Today has felt like one of the longest in our home as we took Brae to the vets at 8.30am for her dental op. Following a 15 minute stand off between us & our little black beauty who was refusing to leave the car!... once inside she happily walked through with the nurse to have her pre op blood tests. Busying ourselves until 1.30pm when we'd been asked to phone for a progress report, during which we were advised that 19 teeth had been removed. We had to wait another 4 hours before being able to bring the 'star patient' home for much needed TLC from us and Rosie, who'd been confused and unusually subdued during the day. Our brave furbaby has only been tempted by water & yoghurt and is now snoozing contentedly as the 3 of us watch over her. Relief that Brae is back where she belongs is an understatement.

I'm so sorry that you have lost your Mottee. I (and many, many more of us) have had to make that difficult decision and know only too well how very hard it is and how your heart just breaks into little pieces. Mottee will never be far away from you. Sending you hugs. Run free Mottee - god bless. xx

I took the lovely Bella out to her new home last night. She had a good wonder round the garden and then found her bed in the kitchen and promptly fell asleep. She knew she was home. Lol. I spoke to her new mom this morning and she had a very settled night with no noise at all, has been on a walk today and is eating well. She has settled already and Michelle and her family love her lots. X

Hello everyone. This is a horribly difficult message to write. Almost 5 years ago we rehomed Mottee from Daybreaks - a 7-year-old boy who'd found himself back in rescue for a second time through no fault of his own. Yesterday evening we lost him at the age of 12 (and a half). To say we're all devastated would be an understatement. He was still active right up until yesterday evening and mentally he thought he was still a young dog...daft play bows and spinning excitedly in circles when we came downstairs in the morning. He got along well with everyone and everything, including other breeds, cats and chickens. He adored our daughter and would regularly walk down to collect her from school with me. She's absolutely heartbroken - when we got back from the vets she made him 'invisible dinner' in his bowl as "he's still with us and I don't want him to be hungry at dinnertime." We've had two greys from Daybreaks and each time they've left us the hole has been immense. I hope he knew how loved he was and still is, I hope he knew that it broke me to make the final decision last night, and I hope he didn't mind his head being soaked with my tears while I held him. RIP my Mottee-Moo. We love you fiercely.
