Sadly Lottie has been returned this morning. Her owner is very upset but feels Lottie needs the company of another dog as she is unsettled when left.

  • Bertie (Mac)

    Over the Rainbow Bridge

Bertie , blade , Roy and I would like to wish everyone a wonderful Christmas, we are so grateful to Ruth and everyone at Daybreaks who without them a chance of a life after racing may not have been possible.......it started sixteen years ago for us with our first grey/saluki cross called Charlie who was amazing and introduced us to the world of greyhounds, after he passed away we got our Bertie from Daybreaks and the rest is history......Daybreaks does certainly change the greyhounds lives but also the lives of all their humans, I couldn't begin to think of life without a greyhound ! I have helped out at daybreak s and help at the dogs day out In The country, but this is nothing compared to so many people who man the kennels, stand all day at the awareness events, organised the walks ,go and walk and wash the dogs , foster them to help their chances of rehoming and the list goes on....... You are all amazing and we feel truly Priveledged to be apart of this wonderful family.....I wish everyone continued success for 2016 xxx

Belle has today paid a Christmas Eve visit to Brueton Park in Solihull. She travelled perfectly in the car jumping in and lying quietly besides kennel companion Heath until we arrived at the park. She is quite keen on the lead and walks best with it doubled across her chest ( a harness would be an alternative). She met several different breeds without showing any aggression whatsoever. We did not have the opportunity for her to meet very small fluffy dogs but her behaviour towards the other breeds suggests there shouldnt be a problem. Squirrels however do excite her. She is an extermely affectionate people friendly girl who would make a perfect companion for anyone happy to handle a strong girl who with the right training will definately settle in time. She could most certainly live with other dogs. Hopefully her permanent home which she so deserves will arrive soon as Heath who she was rescued from being PTS with is reserved and will be homed in the near future.

Just back from the vets, Jed has had additional injectable pain relief as I couldn't get any medication into him. We have tried him on feline id tinned meat, yes feline!! Hay presto my lad starting eating yay. Foot has also been rebandaged and we over came the problem of a dressing change on Boxing day as fortunately my friend coming over for the day is a veterinary nurse so left the vets with a bag full of bandages and dressings for my friend to earn her meal! Vet explained that the roots were very difficult to get out and he wasn't surprised at how poorly Jed was. He seems brighter today so fingers crossed he will continue to improve.
