It has been a worrying few days for me and Daisydog. Her fur round the tops of her legs has started to fall out - a kinda of greyhound Donald trump look - and there have been blood tests and vet visits. Our fabulous (and very greyhound savvy) vet Ruth wanted to rule out cushings disease and thyroid issues. Today we heard that it's not cushings but her thyroid readings are at the very edge of normal (for greys). We are going back to the vets in a week so Daisydog can get more fuss, a biscuit and another check over. On a positive note it's very hot here, the bald bits are symmetrical and Daisydog hasn't checked herself in the garden mirror for a few days!

I remember Duggie from way,way back, I was at the kennels when he went to his first home and saw him at training. It is just so lovely to read how well and contented he is. I love a happy ending. X

Thank you for all of your thoughts. We have been to a second vet and although the news isn't great, there are things we can do. She is going straight on the royal canin renal diet and we are also starting her on a drug tomorrow which is very similar to the Enacard which muddypaws mentioned. She is also going into hospital next week for two days to have her kidneys flushed through as they thought that would be beneficial. They said about 6 months, which gave me a shock, but also said that you can't say for sure and that it could be longer. We are also going to get the book on homeopathic remedies. We are taking all of your advice and I am optimistic that there are things we can do. We intend to fight as hard as we can to keep her as happy and healthy as possible for as long as possible. And apart from that, we are just going to do all we can to make her happy and do al that she likes best. We are teachers and have a long summer holiday, and I don't intend to let her out of my sight! We are going to book two holidays with her, one in the country and one by the sea, so she has something to really enjoy! xx

Brae
Over the Rainbow Bridge
Two weeks ago I'd spent what felt like hours in the garden tidying up and digging out endless weeds (why do they always grow faster than plants?!)... both Rosie & Brae kept me company, sussing out with their noses and paws where I'd been digging. I was rather pleased with my efforts and suitably shattered when John got home and promptly told me there was a large pile of soil on the lounge rug. Huh?! It was as if it had been tipped there but having checked everywhere for a carrying vessel, I was none the wiser as to how it got from the garden into the lounge. That is until today... yes, more weeds needed to be taken out and the remaining freshly dug over soil is clearly far too much temptation for one little lady! As I was coming out the garage I saw Brae approaching the kitchen door with a cricket ball sized lump of soil in her mouth which she'd have quite happily deposited in the house had she not been caught in the act!

I had this fabulous photo sent to me of Duggie enjoying his new garden in Northumberland with Misty and Lucy (and Dad Douglas too!) We miss you very much. Gina (Duggie's mum) told me it is wonderful to see them in full stride and absolutely loving having a gallop whilst Misty loves to roll on the grass!
