So pleased to read the update on Ash. I can tell little Kylie her brother's getting stronger again. I'm sure you'll soon sort the weight issue once Ash has some time to get over everything. Feeling more comfortable is bound to help once all the smarting stops. Ash obviously knows he's onto a good thing and intends to take advantage for as long as is possible. Must have been a few difficult days but he is a lovely lad so well done to you all for getting him - and yourselves - through it. All the best from all of us x

I have 8 greys, 3 boys and 5 girls, they all get on fine, I think Jed will choose who he wants! And you go with your gut feeling. Best thing to do is pop to kennels with Jed and see who he gets on with. X

Ok some advice please,as some of you know I have been seriously considering a companion for Jed, some of you may even have bets on how long I can hold out! So very nearly succumbed but fortunately Paddypaws found a wonderful home! My question is do I look for one Of the opposite sex (tempted by little Rosie!) or does it not make any difference and I let Jed decide, knowing Jed this could take an awfully long time as he doesn't do anything at speed, very odd I know for a greyhound you have to know him to appreciate this!

Best news ever! I am sure with Sam's cooking Ash will make a good recovery, who knows Sam could even be writing his own Greyhound recipe book before too long! Seriously though really relieved to hear he is through the worse bit, you both know you can get the weight back on him because you have done that before. Hugs to you all you are stars.

I also want to say a massive thank you to Daybreaks for all the funding & the people who made donations for Ash's vet bills. Many people would have just put him down as he will be 12 yrs in March & with all his health problems. We are so grateful we were able to have him & nobody gave up on him. He truly wants to live & is bright as a button & so inquisitive. We just know he is so happy & wants to be with us & see as much as he can see for as long as he can. Thank you x

    Over the Rainbow Bridge

Well, what can I say? Brae is a wonderful addition to our family. She'll be six in a few weeks time but acts like a 3 year old; full of bounce, life, energy & cheekiness. She's loving exploring the garden, plays with (okay, chomps) the toys, has nibbled through an inch of Rosie's spare coat (before I could get to it in time!), sleeps all night next to Rosie, has a hearty appetite, can't get the hang of dentastix, walks without complaining doing her best to keep up with Rosie, even though her limp is obvious, loves snuggles from her 'sister', John and I, has taken over what was Rosie's sofa, has checked out the back of the TV to see what's going on in there, got used to the noise of the hoover, washing machine, phone and John's singing! She's got lots of new admirers on our estate, an adoring 'Nan' and 'Aunt', snores like a trooper and can hear a pin drop a mile away! She also knows exactly what's in the fridge and which shelf is for her & Rosie along with where we keep their treats and after several days of little wees on the carpet, we're at 4 days without any accidents indoors as she now takes herself outside as & when the need arises. She has her teeth brushed daily but has wised up to this and tries to keep her mouth closed just like Rosie! We visited the vet last Tuesday for her opinion on what if any treatment may be needed in the future on her hock - potentially it could cost thousands however, that may be years down the line and the vet isn't convinced that it would make her movement any easier/more comfortable. Her initial Metacam ran out yesterday so we collected another dose from the vet today and next Monday we're taking her back to have a 'progress check up' along with a blood test to see if she's okay to stay on this medication long term. As you tell, we're not at all smitten by this 2nd black 4 legged beauty to live under our roof. Just want to mention also how wonderful Rosie has been with our guest as she's taken on the role of 'big sis' so naturally which has made the fostering of Brae so much easier for us all. Tash & John xx

Ash News!! We are through those woods!!! All Ash's redness from his burns have gone down & he's started getting up & down by himself. His scrotum from the operation is still very sore though, but is healing well, as is his operation wound. We got a call from the vet today to say the adenoma was benign too - YAY! He is even back to boxing us when we say we are going to fight him!! He also popped up to go for a walk with Charlie Mouse - we took him to the corner of the road! However, he really does look like Night of the Living Dead!! We now have the battle of getting that weight on him! He has started eating again though, but only very small amounts, but it's early days. We are so happy re his progress - the vet left us last week saying only love & care now will get him through - & we did it!! Thank you to everyone for all their support - he is a miracle boy! We love you Ash! x
