Tribute to The Retired Greyhound " THAT LAST NIGHT " Your racing days....they are over now Your last race....has been run It's time for you....to take a bow It's your turn now....to have some fun You always.... ran your heart out And you always tried....your very best No longer will you hear....the crowd shout It's your turn now....for you to rest Your golden days....are in the past Your legs are weary....and so tired You are still so swift....but not so fast It's your turn now....to be retired This is what....they said to me On that last night....at the track They said this day....was meant to be Then they whispered....you wont be back So my racing days....they are over now A distant memory....they are in the past I ran my races....and l took my bow l always knew....that it that it wouldn't last So what l dream of now....is a loving home A gentle hand, a kind word....and a cosy bed A place that l can call....my very own And a soft warm pillow....to lay my head. X.

Ok muddypaws, cast your mind back (a very very long time). I was the one who turned up on the eventful day at the Registry Office - I should have washed my hair - again! Remember me now? chubbychops as you recently called me from my photo - yeah me. I wont forget that in a hurry. Fairy - feel free to add as may comments as you like about him, in brackets or not. Little Louis continues to be a good boy although he is fast becoming a greedy devil and loves his food. I am going to get him a hat with a nodding hand on the top to keep stroking him and give my hand a rest - he is such a fusspot and such a very loving little chap. He has also found out how to wag his tail and is now using it lots!

Hope you have settled in (Honey) - her pet name in kennels. She is a gorgeous girl, was very nervous when we first had her as a racer but soon blossomed and quite a character, however quite nervous around small children, may suit home with older children. We had her the same time as Rosa and the two girls were kennelled together. They finished racing within one week of each other and are now in the Trust at the same time - quite a coincidence. You are a lovely girl and we will miss you when we visit the racing kennels - at least we managed to give you a walk yesterday. Yet another grey we are sorry not to have at home - house not big enough. Hope you get a lovely home, you certainly deserve it. Love Harryracer xx

Hi Folks Jessie here just to let you know Max and I went on a walk on Cannock Chase with the Monmore Green RGT. It was very cold but we enjoyed it especially the sausages when we got back. Mum had mulled wine and mince pies and won a prize in the raffle, so a good day was had by all. A Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to everyone at Daybreaks. Love Jessie xxx

Belle
I’m Homed
Lovely to hear Belle is doing well. I'm sure her leg must be bruised and sore from the surgery as well and as that slowly disappears she will start to feel more normal. The dressing is bound to feel weird too. Feel sure in another weeks time you'll see even more improvement. Keep those updates coming.....we're all thinking of you xx

Kylie
Over the Rainbow Bridge
Here we are another week on. Kylie is now eating her kibble well most mealtimes and is also accepting having her teeth cleaned on a daily basis which is a good thing. She also stands patiently for grooming (extra fuss) but is not overly keen on ear-cleaning. She continues to love cuddles and this week has been fascinated by the bobble and antlers on Andy's Christmas hat-she has grabbed it a couple of times and has also run off and put discarded socks on her bed a few times too. I'm not sure if the cold weather is helping but she is now getting up when we come downstairs, not whining at 5am and is usually still cuddled up on her duvet under her blanket when we go into them. She has sprawled upside down several times this week including a couple of hours ago. After eating her mackerel topped lunch earlier today, Kylie tried to get Lucy to chase her and this evening, she got so excited about the dog biscuit she was about to receive she gave a single bark-our two have never done that and I'm not sure if she surprised herself! She is continuing to walk well and must be feeling more settled as a couple of times she has had a little whimper when a particularly plucky neighbourhood cat almost strolled into our paths this weekend. She continues to be clean and to let us know when she needs to go out - she's also very good at holding it too. She is such a happy little soul and you're never alone if you've got a Kylie.
