Arthur (Ice)
Over the Rainbow Bridge
Arthur has a new name in addition to Arthur! He is now also known affectionately as Big Fella Thanks - after a pretty good race horse. He is so solid and when he barges past you, you know about it. I have the bruises to prove it when he threw me down the steps outside! Surprisingly, he was only 36 kilos when we had him weighed at the vets. He has put weight on and looks bigger than that but the scales don't lie - or do they - perhaps I should get on them!

Alfie
Over the Rainbow Bridge
So sorry for Alfie. l dont' know the reason why he was returned, but l am going to be a little bit outspoken here. We all know that their will always be dogs returned, sometimes, for very genuine reasons, but it feels like some people just jump on the bandwagon when they see dogs being returned. lf you are going to rehome a greyhound, then it is an honour and a privilege to take one of these wonderful dogs into your lives. Please don't look upon them as disposable items. That said, it is far preferable that they be returned, rather than stay in a home where they are not loved and valued for the beautiful companions that they are.l am not saying that this was the case with Alfie...l don't like to judge people without knowing the circumstances, but please think long and hard before adopting a dog, as they are a big commitment, and you will certainly have to change certain aspects of your lifestyle and routine. l realise that l am preaching to the converted here, but l find it really heart braking to see dogs treated this way. Everyone at kennels work their butts off to find loving homes for these gorgeous hounds, so please think very carefully before making that decision and be prepared to give 100% commitment , patience and understanding....and they will repay you a million times over. l do not have an agenda here...l just want to see loving homes for these greys, with families who will love and cherish them. Sorry if l am not very subtle, or PC, but l would hope that l speak on behalf of all greyhound lovers, and in fact, all animal lovers. Please understand the responsibility that you are undertaking. Rant over...thank you for bearing with me.

Alfie
Over the Rainbow Bridge
Sadly Alfie has been returned to the kennels after being homed in May 2013. This is through no fault of his own. He is totally cat friendly, gentle on the lead and fabulous with children. We hope we can find him a new home asap.....

Charlie
Over the Rainbow Bridge
Charlie has been with us for three weeks and has settled in brilliantly. He's had lots of fuss from us all and is quite happy to lay on his bed and watch the world go by. He enjoys his walks and treats and then coming home and crashing out for a few hours. He is so well behaved and loves to have lots of hugs. We'll keep you posted 🙂

The new photo of Maria taken at Stoke Prior Steam Fayre on Saturday shows just how good she is with small dogs. The little one was jumping all round her and if anything, she was a bit frightened!!!!!!

Ada

She has gone green! I popped out again to visit Ada who has been on trial for a couple of weeks and I am so pleased to say she is very settled and doing so well. I am going to visit once a month to weigh her and to take her to hydrotherapy. She looks so content and happy 🙂 Photos will be taken on her next visit! x

.....and today is Gent's turn. Happy Gotcha Day for my beautiful boy Gent, 5 years ago today. Every day I feel blessed that you came into our lives. We've been by the seaside today and as a special treat, you helped share my fish and chips (fish for you and chips and a drool patch on my legs for me!!!). Love you Mr G. Xxxxxx
