Hi, As far as I know they're going ahead. They have a break for 2 weeks over Easter, and we've been on holiday since so haven't been ourselves for a few weeks. Have you phoned Carole or Yvonne who run the classes? Their numbers are on the Daybreaks home page - click on the link to Wednesday training classes. Hope this helps.

Well Summer had a trip to the vets for a check up today and was such a good girl, all the staff there have fallen in love with her. In fact they were really busy but spent time sat on the floor (two of them!) having loads of Summer kisses, licky, licky, licky! :p

Stanley learning that I am the 'treat lady'. Have to be ready with one in each hand as 2 greys approach. He enjoyed some birthday cake on Friday with us to celebrate Dad's 65th. Tail doing fine.

Just to say Gemma doing great and has let Stanley settle in nicely. She wants him to chase her and play but he is definitely more laid back. They had a little bit of birthday cake on Friday as Dad 65th. The cork popping didn't seem to both either of them.

Our grey Jet also has Head Honcho & Top Honcho in his family tree.We have had probs. with people & getting out of the car. At first he was always looking behind him on walks & would have walked into a lamp post ahead of him once if we hadn't stopped him-we used to say he needed wing mirrors! We too, have been to places for a walk & as we have 2 greys, one of us has been for a walk with 1 dog, leaving the other person behind with Jet. When this happened we always sat in the hatchback with him, so even tho he didn't get out he was 'subjected' to the noise & movement around the car. He almost ruined one of our hols by doing this & we've been to greyhound walks where we've had to go on our own walk cos by the time Jet has got out of the car everyone has gone without us. We know how frustrating this can be;I'm sure you've had the strange looks we used to have in car parks & screaming children always appear at the wrong time don't they? We can look back & laugh at it now, because we've had Jet almost 3 years & he's changed so much in this time. I've been trying to list the things we tried with Jet-I don't think there's a miracle cure, but all have helped & it takes time & patience(which fortunately for Daisy you seem to have). Some have already been mentioned; -Greyhound training classes. Details on this site. Helps dog & you to cope with/handle behaviour.Hepled us immensely;we made new friends & picked up invaluable tips. -A body wrap(similar idea to yr thundershirt)that we got from the Mekuti website. It's worth reading the info. on this site.We used to go to the Sat. training classes & borrowed a body wrap to try before we bought our own. -Greyhound walks as they do feel safer in a pack.Even if you can't get her out of the car;let her get used to noises & movement by opening the hatchback & sitting with her or winding some windows down. -Gardens open to the public where dogs are allowed on leads. As Daisy is so nervous of getting out of the car, this will be more useful when she's a bit more confident,as the car parks can get v.busy. Other ideas:- -TTouch classes. We used TTouch when Jet froze on walks or became v.anxious.This was arranged thru' the greyhound training class. -Carry some treats Daisy loves in your pocket every time she goes out. Reward her when she gets out of the car, passes a person etc.Use these treats only on these occasions so they're 'special'. Jet comes to me now when he thinks he's done something good on a walk asking for a treat! -Having a 2nd confident & carefully chosen grey helped us. If that isn't an option,is there someone Daisy knows & is confident with, who has a dog she gets on with, that could come out with you. We found having a dog who jumps out of the car without hesitation helps(& is also useful to divert people who dash up to your terrified dog wanting to fuss it!) This won't help immediately, but if you have an understanding friend with a dog, worth a try. Jet used to see a person in the distance & work out how he was going to avoid them. Sometimes we had to stop walking or go along with his plans, but sometimes he had to do what we wanted. The trick is to get the balance right;to continue to push your dog a bit further without scaring them too much so that they refuse to do anything. Not easy, but think back to when you had Daisy & I'm sure you see a difference already.Best of luck.

    I’m Homed

Summer has been no trouble at all to foster, she only needs a little more socialising but apart from that very small issue she is a star! She will be content with fuss and cuddles all day, so if there are any spare children around she would love that! Who ever gets to home this very pretty girl will be loved back tenfold. 🙂 x
