Henry
Over the Rainbow Bridge
oh no Honeypen..... I am gutted after reading your comment that Henry smelt like 'the giraffe house at Dudley Zoo'! Every single grey that arrives at Daybreaks is bathed on arrival and then bathed again if they are long stayers 🙁 Perhaps the new 'baby powder' shampoo and spray will help overcome this..... However, thanks for your lovely comments about the team we have at Daybreaks - it is everyone who is passionate about helping the greys we have in our care that makes it all happen together. I am over the moon that you made Henry an official member of your family today and really pleased he is gaining weight 🙂 I will ask Denny if he fancies going to a fabulous foster home as this would certainly free up a space for one of the boys off the waiting list xxx

Brin (Patrick)
Over the Rainbow Bridge
I was at Daybreaks taking Henry hoem on trial when I saw Patrick being returned. It's such a shame when an animal is returned but rather they are in the right home than the 'wrong' one. Our pooch has the odd accident in the kitchen, a gentle "a a" and then take him out the the garden is all that's needed. Signs are there for toileting as stated below and we found a winning routine. We use a crate at night-they cry if they need to toilet and are 'safe' at night when no one is about to keep an eye on them (this is the first time these animals have ever been in a home and it is all so new and overwhelming for them, new sights, sounds, smells, routines etc). For the first few weeks take poochy out every hour and say what you want them to do. When they do it say the phrase whilst they are piddling and reward with lots of praise and 1 treat for wee, 3 treats for poo. Make the reward something they love (cheese or chicken for Henry). They soon get the hang of it! It would be super to hear how he's doing and I wish his new owners all the very best. Helen

We came to adopt Henry today and I met Denny and am still thinking about him now. There was something so gentle and kind about him that I wanted to take him home with us. If he hasn't been rehomed very soon, we have asked to foster Denny in order to report how he is in a home and family environment.......and to give him lots and lots of cuddles! Helen and family x

Henry
Over the Rainbow Bridge
Well, what a super day it's been for our family. Today we brought Henry back to Daybreaks.......for adoption! We were going to give it the full week of half-term to check all was definitely ok with Henry and the boys but we knew it was/is so adopted him today! Whilst he was there, he had a lovely bath, teeth check, nail clip etc and now he smells less like the giraffe house at Dudley zoo and more like a bowl of pot pourri. He really did have a certain pong to him which is now all gone. It was super to see the staff at Daybreaks again-I know Henry was liked by all there. We promise to take really good care of him and love him always. We couldn't imagine life without him but do miss sitting on the sofa in the evenings-he's so large he takes up the entire three seater and hangs his legs out over the edge. Henry has put on another 2 kilos so we think he's now about the right weight he should be. I have sent Ruth a picture of Jasper and Henry together which she may pop onto the website (if she ever has time to do anything more)! Thank you to all at Daybreaks-you come out to look after the dogs come rain, shine, freezing cold or when feeling poorly-you make a difference in the world and it doesn't go unnoticed. Helen and family x

Norris
Over the Rainbow Bridge
Dave is away in Scotland at the moment, and the hotel he was staying at was running one of those race events. They show a race with all the names changed and you bet on the winner. Although the name was changed, it was a greyhound race at Monmouth and Dave is sure it was Norris!! Same markings even to the large scar on his side. Even better Norris was the winner! We always knew he was special, but now he is the star of a race night!

Stan (Santa 1)
I’m Homed
Stan settled in really well! still unsure of his position in the cat world, he seems to want to go to them but they don't seem to want him just yet! Has now found his sleeping quarters next to our bed, eight hours of undisturbed sleep! Using muzzle when we leave him, so far so good. Luke has been so much happier having him around and us! xx

That's great news. Tnx for letting us know and for looking after her. Not surprised she had a whimper - she's had it rough recently. But then TBH she's never been the bravest off the track! Truth is she's a real sweetheart and I love the pictures of her sharing the sofa with the cat. I can't wait to hear that someone has found her

Zac
Over the Rainbow Bridge
It was lovely to see Zac's new family come to visit him while we were at the kennels this afternoon. We all went on a little walk together and he behaved beautifully (no suprise there). They are so excited to take him home with them next week - I'm delighted for the gorgeous boy but, gosh, I will so miss him. xx

Bertie

Bertie is a big, strong, handsome boy but he's so sweet. Understandably he's rather nervous at the minute, he wants to be your friend but is a little wary - I'm sure he will soon settle in. Big cuddles for a lovely big boy. xx

Enjoyed a lovely walk with this beautiful boy today. He was quite alert and carried both ears upright all the time we were out, but walks nicely and doesn't pull. The barking labs were out at the farm, and he didn't bother at all, just carried on past. Such a sweetheart. x

Gemma definitely still the centre of attention. She will get me into trouble as she knows I will give a treat hopefully when Dad (Tim) not looking. She could probably do with a good run but for moment will have to continue tearing up the lawn.
