Kirsty
Over the Rainbow Bridge
Hiya, just thought you would appreciate hearing about my boy Reubes. Like Kirsty he howled & cried when left at first. I decided to get my dog crate out (had a Boxer before & he used it all the time). First time Reubes saw it, he crawled in & stayed there for over 2 hours!! I had to coax him out with my best treats. Needless to say we had a very peaceful night and that didn't change - whew!! If you have never used a crate before, you may feel they seem small, cramped, cruel even, but I think R proved the point that he liked the security it offered him, (it is a huge Grey sized crate btw). We put it away once we got Grey no2 - Blossom, cos they slept together! - Oh thats the other cure - a kennel mate - one grey is never enough you know!! luv t

Red
Over the Rainbow Bridge
Hiya, so good to hear from you that Red is fitting right in, I knew he would he is such a chilled lad. As for photos Linda I have loads!! Mostly of Red roaching though, not so pretty as he is entire for now. R & B have settled down again now, Blossy not missing him so much now, and R is more loving again - silly lad. It was such a privilege to have Red here, he was easy to look after really, all I needed to think about was our prized possesions being within easy reach -LOL, my house is back to chaos instead of very tidy, oops, and maybe now my grass will have a chance to recover from 3 wee's on one spot all the time. Hope to see you again one day Red. luv t

Over the Rainbow Bridge
Gorgeous Soldier was picked up from the vets by Fiona (one of our volunteers) following his castration and brought him to Daybreaks yesterday afternoon. However, before he was out of the car, we noticed he was very swollen and starting to bleed a little. We transferred him to the van with a mound of duvets and blankets and let him rest for a while. However, an hour later it was clear he was bleeding too much so I took him back to the vets. Soldier was operated on straight away - it was so interesting to be able to be present during the operation and give him plenty of tummy cuddles! When we got home late evening, we spent the rest of the time alternating with cold packs and compresses to help the swelling and this morning I am pleased to say he is doing well (I am not after being so stressed for him!!!!) He has eaten his breakfast, toileted outside and I will take him up to the kennels to keep an eye on him during the day and will continue to come home with me until he goes to his new home. You may be wondering how this fella managed to get reserved so quickly - upon his arrival yesterday, my wonderful friends, Maggie and Paul, who I have not seen in over 5 years as they moved to a tiny island off the top of Scotland, came to visit as they are moving back to the Midlands. They adopted the very first grey to arrive through the gate of Daybreaks (Jay - who is now a wobbly 12 year old) back in 2006. They took one look at him whilst tucked up on the van and fell in love with him...!

Larry
Over the Rainbow Bridge
The article by Kathleen Gilley, posted by Tiggersmum was really interesting and sheds light on some of our greys behaviours. As if to prove the point Larry was found, this evening, growling at the patio door. Upon investigation we discovered he was howling at the full moon! xx

The lovely Emma is now crashed out fast asleep at our feet after being a really good girl, investigating everything in the house, and playing with a squeaky toy for about 15 minutes! She is a real poppett.
