Jak and Cornelia went for a walk to Brueton Park with Karen and Norman today, they met many other dogs including small fluffies, of the two Cornelia was the one who didnt like the little dogs, although by the end of the walk she was a little better and by and large ignored them as long as they didnt come to near, I have to add though that she was never aggresive, both were ok with bigger dogs.

Hi Louisa. You're so right that Kirsty chose you, it was a lovely sight to see her fixing her feet firmly in front of you both - she knew exactly that she wanted to go home with you! I can sympathise with you feeling nervous, I was in the same position as you almost 3 years ago. My partner had owned all sorts of different breeds over the years from large dogs to small ones, but a Greyhound was my first dog and it was daunting. I had no idea what I was going to do with my boy Gent when I got him home and Stefano, was stuck at work, so I had to bring him home on my own. I was advised to talk to him in the car on the way home. By the time I'd got home, I'd rambled all sorts of rubbish to him and was sick of the sound of my own voice! In the end though, I think he was more relaxed when we got home than me. He went outside for a wee, checked out the garden and the house and then slumping onto his bed, falling asleep and only moving when I went to the fridge! It's been pretty much the same ever since (food, walks, sleep, follow Mum to the fridge!). We had our second Grey a year later, because I felt I wanted a little girl to bond with. Emily is technically my dog and Gent is Stefano's, but strangely since we've had Emily, my bond with Gent has become a lot deeper. They are the most amazing dogs and have incredible personalities (Gent is generally a steady-Eddy, whereas Emily is our pocket rocket!). Someone told me that I would have a second Grey and I didn't believe them, I suspect the same will be for you too. I'm not sure where you live, but check out the Greyhound walks, there's usually one fairly close to most people. They are really useful for the humans (there's a wealth of information and experience on two-legs, plus just generally a lovely bunch of people) and the Greys love it too - they wag their tails furiously and can't wait to greet each other. Everyone at Daybreaks are so helpful and are always there if you have any queries. As you can tell, the website is also helpful, with plenty of Greyhound owners only too happy to offer up advice if you feel you need it or share a laugh with you if something funny's happened. Hope you don't have to wait too long before you can bring your little girl home. Take care. Mand x

Hi Aimee, it must be very hard to say goodbye to such a lovely boy, but with the brilliant reference you have given him, hopefully it won't be long before he finds his forever home with a Billy sized sofa! xxx

So pleased to hear Norris is doing fine. The fact that he loves his bed is no surprise! He's going to take a few days to get used to the lie of the land in his new home and then he will be back to his happy waggy tailed self again in no time! Mand - to answer your question Aunty Linda and Uncle Paul are thinking about him lots and lots. Lena is a bit subdued and we think she is the one who is missing him most out of our 2. She was the most put out when he arrived as well, but they ended up very close and Norris was like her little shadow. She used to wait for him on their last trip into the garden before bedtime as Paul always had him on the lead, she preferred not to go back into the house without him. She will get back to normal over the next few days as we all will. And Lola... well she just doing her own thing as usual. His arrival didn't seem to affect her much and nor has his departure. She was up for a big cuddle on Sunday night though (rare as hens teeth) which I like to think was to make me feel better! xx

Hi Mand. Your blue boy was very handsome and your advice yesterday was great as it is so hard to know which greyhound is right for you as they are all so lovable. I think Kirsty chose us in the end and I am so pleased because she is gorgeous. I am very nervous because this is my first dog (Craig has had dogs before) but it will be great when she is home, I’m sure. Many thanks, Louisa xxx

Oh poor Amber - sorry it turned bad. She was so good yesterday and it looked like any bite - sore, but all clean. It was so lovely to see you all yesterday - hope coming along didn't contribute, but she was such a good quiet girl, she was fantastic. Hope she is better soon and it doesn't end up with extra vet trips. Thinking of you. Sam, Si, Dreams and Tom

My handsome bee He is such a wonderful boy, a true gentle giant. Doesn't snatch, or barge past or bouncy. He only jumps for joy when he see's you walking to his kennels with food, he can get a little noisy around feeding as he gets inpatient but other than that his fine. His like a small pony, standing him next to some of our small bitches you wouldnt even think there the same breed. He loves his treats and cuddles, he'd run and jump on his bed and wait for me to give him some love, the kennels won't be the same without him as i've got so used to seeing him in the kennels, it's going to be weird. I will miss him loads but will take comfort in knowing wherever he goes he will be spoilt and given as much love and cuddles as i gave him (If thats possible) Good look my gentle giant xxxxxxx
