Our rolo gets spooked very easily & does the hyperventilating thing. We now use a thunder shirt which are available online but also pets at home sell them. Very similar to the TT wraps but can be left on when dog is alone too. Are also suitable for walking in also. You would need to build up use gradually so they don't associate the shirt with a stressful situation arising so best to use when she is not stressed at times too. You may find your cuddles may be effecting her too cos if u are stressed/worried she will pick up on this from your body language. Hope u get sorted soon.

Twiggy is bouncy too.....she and Lucy have the same Dad so I guess that is where they get their bounce from! I wouldn't have her any other way! xxx

My gorgeous girl Ruby is also petrified of bangs and the best thing we have found a TT bandage which we bought at the trust dog show a couple of years ago - I had tried the Sounds Scary CD but i just prolonged the terror, so we thought we'd give the bandage a go. It worked like a dream, first Bonfire Night we used it i thought she'd gone deaf, she just slept (and was even dreaming)- the only downside is she obviously can't wear it when shes home alone, but it has absolutely transformed our girl.

Hi, We've had the same problem with Cookie over the last year - round us it is clay pigeon shooting and at my parents pheasant shooting! It's similar with fireworks - so we tried a DAP collar over Bonfire Night and that seemed to help a fair bit. I've also found she's far better if she's walked with another dog as it seems to make her more confident (and she's too busy playing). However, on days when there are bangs she will freeze and if off lead will run back to the car. I don't force her to carry on and I don't reassure her - as that convinces her that there is something to worry about. I'd recommend that DAP collar (you can buy it from Amazon) or Ruth has something similar at the kennels I think. Sorry I can't be of more help.

    I’m Homed

Hi, I wonder if anyone can give me some advice? Where we live is quite rural and recently Maisy has been getting very spooked by loud bangs that we keep hearing when we're out walking. I'm not sure if they're gunshots but it does sound like it. She comes to work with me every day and it has got so bad that when it is time for her lunctime walk she hides under the table (she used to love going out as we always see rabbits, horses, hares etc!). When I get her outside she has her tail right between legs and she pants and drags me all the way round. Once we get back she hyperventilates 🙁 I got into work at 9am this morning and she is still hyperventilating almost 2 hours later. I'm worried that she will give herself a heart attack. I have tried cuddles and food to distract her but she's not interested. I talk to her constantly when we're out and I though she get used to the bangs but she seems to be getting worse. Unfortunately, I don't seem to be able to avoid them as wherever we go we seem to be hearing them. Not sure if its something the farmers use to scare the birds? Does anyone have any suggestions to calm her? Any advice gratefully received x
