We've got two and we definitely are planning on having children...in fact I even looked at a pram the other day and said to Stefan 'that one would work, I could tie one each side!'. We've found that they walk beautifully together actually and are great company for each other too...if we tie them up outside a shop we return to find them entwined 🙂 no whining/worrying, so I'd be really confident to tie them up outside the fence of a play area in the future, where I can keep an eye, but be relaxed that they were taking care of each other. Because of our future plans we've also introduced them to children on walks and they've been really good (Perdi a little nervous at first), just letting the kids stroke them and having a sniff back (which made one little boy giggle). Paddy is much calmer and less bothered by things than Perdi, but both are fab and I haven't had a moments concern about adding little people and buggies into the mix...we're going to have to buy an estate tho!! x

Hi Vikic, in my experience 2 is no more difficult than 1, infact I think it's easier! I've not had to deal with buggies, but I can often be seen on school runs laden with PE kits, lunchboxes and violins and with 3 greys trotting along quite happily alongside me! As Naomi says, by the time buggies become a reality you will have loads of experience handling them. Why don't you pop along to the kennels with Riley and do some walkies with the trust dogs? It'll give you an idea what it feels like, plus it'll help Ruth out no end ;0)

You look so lovely - I wonder if Lisa & Teddy would love you as much as I think I could - may have to suggest a trip to the menfolk of the house...Could/ should I make it 3 greys & 3 children - I suppose it would even it up!!!

Hi Vikic. I walk 4 on my own with no trouble whatsoever, once they've "emptied out" they walk beautifully by my side. On occassions our other 13 year old grey honours me with her company so at times I have 5 leads to deal with, again,no problem. I can honestly say with hand on heart 2 are no more difficult to handle than one as they learn from each other. Cherry is cat friendly as well, Why not give it a try I will guarantee you wont look back. Jill

I'd back up what everyone has said so far, and I've found two easier than one. I haven't had to do the buggy thing, but walking with two dogs and three children under ten has never been a problem. The only minus is that the dogs can't go in the play area if you go to the park, but that would be the case no matter how many dogs you had. I'd give it a go...!

Hello Julie, I went through this same dilema not so long ago. I have a calm and collected grey, Milo and recently added Millie (once Clara) and she has definately brightened up our lives. Sometimes I say things this way: if you're thinking about it and the thought won't go away then it's probably what you really want to do as otherwise you either wouldn't consider it in the first place or you would soon find a reason not to do it at all. Of course you don't want to let the new grey down but all you can do is try it...maybe an older or more cat friendly dog would be easier with the push chair as less chase. However by the time there is a buggy involved, both dogs should be quite settled and calm and you should be more used to handling them. Obstacles are merely there to work around but not to get in the way completely! 🙂 x

I just love this girl 🙂 She's such a sweet person too, I've seen her at the Riding Club when we have hired the arena to let the dogs have a free run, from watching her reactions amongst other greys I'd suggest that she would be ok with other greys as long as they weren't too bossy .. she seemed very frightened of being around other greys and just kept running back to the gate trying to get away then threw herself on the floor in a faint (never seen that in a dog before 🙁 )but life in the Boswell house has worked its usual magic and she seems great with Ruths mob, they are all lovely and settled as a pack which I think has really helped Kelly. I personally think she'd also love being with a calm grey that won't try to push her around and frighten her again. All crossed she gets a lovely home for Christmas. J xx

ahhhhh, Ratty, she is such a poppet! She is no trouble whatsoever - she is house trained, quiet, small, gentle on the lead and gorgeous! She is pocket sized so would be an easy 2nd addition to any family (or 3rd, 4th or 5th..... LOL!)

Kelly is doing fantastically well. We can now take her coat on and off easily without the fear of losing a hand! She has settled in well and is house trained and very good. She has her 'mad' moments of running around and playing (but don't all greys have a mad five minutes!). She would suit a home without children as she is not too keen on sudden movements which unsettles her (unless it is Foxy and then she joins in!) She gets frightened of loud voices however so I think she is ready for a home if we can just find the right one.....

This little lass was dropped off at our house yesterday by her owner who is no longer able to keep her. She has been in a home for approx 3 years. She is a very sweet girl - a bit skinny and her teeth are terrible. Hopefully after her dental next week she will start eating better. She is great with children and all other breeds of dogs. I am taking her for a cat test this morning and hopefully she will pass. If she does, I think she may make a perfect addition for Danielle and her family (one of our volunteers). Can't wait for you to meet her Danielle x She slept on our bed last night and she loves her cuddles and gets on well with Ratty, Kelly and our 6! She is so good we don't know we have got 9 in the house!!!

Hi, two is better than one as everyone else says its nice for them to have the company, its what their used to. May be good idea to go for 'cat friendly' so if you are out walking with them with a buggy it wouldnt bother them if they see one!. Plus do you know anyone who has a buggy to borrow so you could practise! lol.

Hi Vikic. We have 2 lovely black girls. Lola (Highfire Lass) has been with us for just over 6 months and Lena for about 7 weeks or so now. It's great when Paul and I can walk them together which we enjoy too, but with work committments etc I have to walk them on my own quite often. Neither of ours are cat (or squirrel) friendly so it can get a bit exciting at times but I honestly don't find it any harder walking 2, even when they kick off at their arch enemies cats and squirrels. I have them both on one side of me (e.g left) with my right hand through the the loop of the leads and my left hand controlling the length of lead they have at their disposal. This works for me and even when they bounce or lunge at a small furry it's not much different handling to one. We had Lena on trial for 2 weeks as this was one of the things I needed to be sure I was OK with before we committed. In the house and garden it's no different apart from 2 sprawling bodies to step over....and we have insisted on good manners when food is around (theirs and ours) which makes things pleasant. The only thing I can't comment on is kids & buggies as we are an adult only household. Hope this might help a bit as we are fairly new to it ourselves (they are our first greys too). Linda x

Thanks for your help everyone, my main worry about 2 is walking them both, is it more of a handful? And I'm thinking about the future and possibility we may have kids in a few years time. We do a lot of walks together, the OH and I because we both like to be outdoors, but guess I'm also thinking potential buggy in years to come, with 2 dogs... Would be great if others could share their experiences xx
