I got to have a lovely fuss with Lucy today - what a sweetheart she is. She was so tired though. Ruth, just remember you're giving her the best time she's ever had. She was lucky to have come to you. Will be thinking about you all on Friday.xx

Lucy was her name, racing was her game, 160 races later her owner said ‘see you later’, fate brought her to Ruth and Rob, who have done a marvellous job, she has visited parks and walked over hills, eaten so much her tummy is filled she has watched the ducks saw the sun and had so much fun, never has she been so happy. Now the time has come to say goodbye, there wont be a dry eye, when you take your last breath onto rainbow bridge, your fellow Greys will be waiting to run with you over the clouds, fuelled by the love that you have been shown, a place one day we will all meet, a place that has no pain and is full of peace to become an angel of the sky. Goodbye Lucy, sweet dreams xx Lots of love Leanne Poppy and Sonny

So sad news, it is heart breaking. I also had to make the awful decision when our dog Pippa had had kidney disease. Sending all our love and best wishes to Lucy, I know her final days will be happy days with Ruth. Lizzyxx

I know what a wonderful week Lucy will have and what a tough week Rob and Ruth will have. We had to make a similar decision last spring to let our adored lurcher Sooby slip away when her tumor became intrusive for her. We spent a memorable weekend with her in the May sunshine and set her free to rainbow bridge on the Sunday evening. It was peaceful for her and we knew it was the right time. Lucy's life is full of love and happiness right now and she couldn't ask for more than that. My thoughts are with you all. Love Cath and Toby xx

Oh Joy, I have been following your progress as you are so like my Gracie, and you both have Honcho ancestry. I am so glad that you have a new home. Good luck little girl x

Max is getting on so well. Perfectly clean in the house. enjoys his food, walks lovely on his lead. He likes to lie on the chair rather than the settee. But he's never tried to go up the stairs. He's just such a lovable boy, he'll make someone a wonderful pet.

I've just read about poor Lucy having another lump in her mouth. I'm so glad she had a lovely time on Sunday on her walk, what a good memory for her. It's a very hard decision Ruth has had to make, but I'm sure it's it's the right one, to let her go with dignity without any further suffering. All our thoughts are with you Lucy & Ruth. Love Val,Peg & Max.xxx

I think that is a very brave decision, I have always told myself that if anything like that ever happened to Harry, I would want to put an end to it before it got to him. Lucy has been so lucky to find a couple like you and having such a wonderful last few days and enjoying it so much rather than being in pain and being miserable. My thoughts will be with you all on Friday. Love Anna xxx

This is such a sad situation, but at the same time I am so pleased for Lucy that she found her way to Daybreaks. Her last days will be packed full of love and kindness and she won't know any suffering, and that's all anybody could ever wish for. I am sending lots of love and strength to dear little Lucy, and of course to Ruth and Rob who have been put through the mill lately. Em xxx

Lucy has been having a great time - yesterday we took her to the Waseley Hills walk and today we have just come back from a fantastic walk around Brueton Park in the sunshine. She had red salmon with her tea last night and has a whole host of goodies lined up for her this week. Thanks to Kate for the sausages and thank you to everyone for your kind messages. Due to a lump that has appeared in her mouth in addition to other lumps appearing on her body, we have decided to let her slip away on Friday afternoon before she gets to the stage where she starts suffering.
