    Over the Rainbow Bridge

Pearl unfortunately had her tail amputated yesterday prior to her homing today. She is off to live with a lovely family who will suit her young, playful ways!

    I’m Homed

Ruth and Rob could not have been more honest and upfront about Penny being very nervous and in need of TLC......The rehoming booklet described the return home in a confident statement along the lines of "on arrival home take your new dog straight into the house, let them explore briefly before going straight outside into the garden." ........Done, dusted and sorted by the time you'd made a cup of tea? Not in our case! Such confidence only applied to a dog that hadn't figured out that possession of the back seat of the car was nine tenths of the law.........so despite the bitter cold and falling snow it only took us two hours to coax her out of the car.......with both car doors open and variations on the Okey Cokey going on to bewilder the casual observer........Still, it's rare that one has the chance to disappear into a snowstorm with the words "I'm just going to get the dog out of the car. I might be gone a long time." One week on, how have we and Penny fared? She is absolutely gorgeous and has settled in remarkably, becoming increasingly confident by making small but significant progress on a daily basis. She is a very gentle, sensitive girl who does require kindness and patience. Each day has given us so much joy in seeing her blossom. We are so pleased she chose us to adopt her. In a word she's perfect.

    I’m Homed

As I am reading this the boy in question is lounging on the sofa after having kicked me ceremoniously off it, poor lad needs the room to spread out and chill!!! he has a hard greyhound life indeed! Toby is doing so well, he has bonded with Monty and Rossi and has become a Mummy's boy, he literally lets me do anything to him and never even flinches. he is beginning to trust his new dad as well and no longer gets into a panic when he enter the room or comes up to him to stroke him. we have just had confirmation of our holiday cottage owner that we are allowed to take him along ( originally we only had the 2 when we booked and that's the maximum allowed) so in May he shall have a holiday in Scotland. his movement has improved lots and he no longer walks on three legs most of the time, I am certain that all the exercise on grass will strengthen his leg and in time he will move almost normal. He is a treasure and a very much loved addition to our household. much love ...Ina x

    I’m Homed

Well she has certainly made herself at home, she ate her dinner and Ti's dinner last night. When I got up this morning she had also eaten a bowl full of biscuits and half a loaf of bread, I have no idea how she managed to get that as it was at the back of the worktop, but she managed it anyway, so I have now made a mental note to remove everything from her reach. We have just come back from an hour long walk so the both of them are fast asleep. Thank you so much Ruth for your time yesterday, this is a smashing site and I will keep up updated on Ella's progress. Kath

    I’m Homed

Toby had been at Daybreaks since October and overlooked because he was nervous and had a limp as a result of a broken hock which stopped him from racing. His confidence grew at the kennels and he stole Ina's heart (one of our volunteers) over time. He now lives with Rossi and Monty and is gaining more confidence day by day.

  • Blinkey

    I’m Homed

Blinkey (now called George) was homed today and is going to make a perfect friend for Gypsy who was homed from Monmore RGT a few months ago. When we introduced the two, George and Gypsy snuggled up with each other on the sofa in the run with their heads on each other - match made in heaven!
