Ruth is home! She looked a little fragile today but sure she will bounce back! We missed you! :)) Xx Rummy went for his neutering operation today, he was such a good boy and went in with tail wagging and came out later with tail still wagging! Bless him! Teddy also went to the vets for the second part of his vaccination booster. He really is a nosey boy and was watching everything Christian was doing, even tried to follow him into the other room. 🙂 Wonderful to see Honey reserved. It's about time! :)) With Honey being reserved we ran out of "My bags are packed" signs to go on the kennels and had to photocopy a couple! Great :)) It has been a stressful Bonfire evening for two of my three doggies. Fletch has finally calmed down and is sleeping next to me on the sofa. Lyra decided she felt safer upstairs and is hiding in the spare room surrounded by pillows. 🙁 As for Skippy Doos, well he is fast asleep oblivious to it all! Bless him. Thank you so much to everyone who has made a donation in Bez's name. So kind. Xxx

Loveheart I think we all need some fat neck Finn stories tocheer us, they're fab! And yes, at this rate of rehoming daybreaks are going to have to get some new recruits as the kennels will be empty but how wonderful! And agree with tinkersnan, we worship the ground jet walks on, these hounds are all so special xxx

    I’m Homed

Just to let you all know that Jimmy is settling in well with us and has been a lovely gentle boy from the start- completely ignoring our rabbit and guinea pigs, eating well and doing brilliantly with his toilet training . He did not want to go for walks initially but is now starting to walk more confidently and for slightly longer distances. He has had to be carried around a lot! but we feel sure he will continue to make progress as he settles in fully and gains confidence. We are starting training classes this Saturday so hopefully he will enjoy that. We are thoroughly enjoying having him as a new member of our family and he has gained many admirers already. A huge thank you to Ruth, Pam and Margaret who have given us so much practical support and advice. We have really appreciated your help.

I had a smashing cuddle with Jet today. Shoulder rubs went down well with him. There was no way I was leaving his kennel until he was ready to let me go, at one stage he seemed to be infront of me and behind me at the same time!!!!! He is gorgeous.xx

As we were walking the dogs today I said to Samantha that I couldnt understand why the delightful, friendly and gorgeous Honey is still at the kennels and then when we got back there was a lovely couple showing interest in her. I really hope it all works out for them all. She so deserves a chance of a happy retirement. Big cuddles Honey. xx

Just a note to say Bez will be back at the kennels from Friday onwards if anyone wants to pay there respects. All we ask is that you let the kennels know before hand, as it is still Bobs garden. We are scattering her ashes just prior to that. X

I felt I had to thank all of you for your kind words about my poem for Bez. Like you all I get very emotional over our beloved hounds and I can hardly type for the tears falling when I am writing them. So I think between us we could fill a lake ! Bez deserved them and is now in all our hearts forever. One old lady, so much love. I am sure many Greys will benefit from her legacy. Her life was not in vain but still so sad an ending. We are just back from Bude and Fat Neck Finn has a few stories to tell so hope to I can cheer some of you up a little with my next posting. xx

  • 2019 Daybreaks Diary!

    I’m Homed

Sorry for the late post for yesterday's daily diary. It was a very busy and late day. Firstly, and apologies as I know most of you already do this, but please ensure that you dog does not only have their Daybreaks trolley tag on their house collar (this should be worn at all times) but also an identity tag with your contact details on. Just a reminder, this is a LEGAL requirement. Should your hound escape, then at least they have your details and those of the kennels, so if you are not contactable then we are. In light of the terribly sad events of the past few days, we should all make sure this is done. Thanks, rant over...... Anyway, on to much happier news. It was lovely to see Clodie now Star be signed up and go to her forever home. Turbo and Mitzy were both reserved pending home checks. And, well Mr Nick has also been reserved, pending the approval of the husband/dad of the family (please, please) and home check. As our longest stayer I as everyone else hopes this works out for him, he is truly deserving and such a handsome boy. Thanks to everyone for their help yesterday. Jo x
