I had a really busy day yesterday at the kennels with the Wednesday crew however I did manage to escape for a couple of hours to have a lovely treat lunch with Pam (Maisie and Monty's mum) and take Foxy to the vets. He is sadly struggling at the moment and he has had blood tests and I am taking a urine sample in later as Christian thinks he has kidney problems as well as his worsening back problems.... it is breaking my heart. Also making me tearful was the return of Seren yesterday evening. I feel so sad for her family who are in a very difficult situation but I reassured them that Seren would not be staying in a kennel but at mine. She is such a beautiful girl - an absolute spitting image of Wispa my precious who I lost in 2015. I am appealing for a foster home or if possible a forever home desperately for her and if you think you could help, please give us a call at the kennels on 0121 782 7702. I am slowly getting better but work beckons!!!! 🙂

Seren (Jingle/Pepper)

Today we sadly had to return our beautiful Seren (Serendipity in full meaning something precious found by chance). She is the most loving, kind hearted, funny dog you could ever wish to meet and it has broken my heart today bringing her back. Seren has been returned through absolutely no fault of her own and the decision was one of the hardest I have ever had to make. My other dog Daisy, has become aggressive and will bite, without warning. One minute she is fine, the next she will attack and be back to her normal self in moments. Seren was sadly getting the brunt of Daisy's aggression and was starting to fear leaving her bed which was so hard to see. I know many people will question why I hadn't rehomed Daisy instead as she is causing the problem but because she has bitten and is aggressive, I could not pass her to a family in fear of them being hurt too and the other option of euthanasia is one I'm really struggling to face. I have visited vets numerously and behaviourists with Daisy but following the conversation with Ruth earlier, will be revisiting the vets and demanding further testing as even my Grandchildren can't come to visit anymore. Seren is excellent on the lead, great with other dogs. I run a grooming salon from home and Seren met dogs from as small as Chihuahua's to big Labradoodles and all sizes in between with no problems at all. She is brilliant with kids though can get a bit excitable and wiggly. She is great in the car, loves caravanning and the beach. She isn't good with cats and her recall unfortunately needs a little work as she can get distracted easily. She loves cuddles and food and will nudge you in the leg with her nose in the direction of her food bowl or her lead depending on what she's after. She will melt anyone's heart should they meet her. I would love for Seren to have a life as wonderful as she is and filled with lots of love and cuddles nice walks and a cosy bed (or sofa). I would love to be kept up to date with Seren's future and am more than happy for her new family to have my details from Ruth. The house feels very empty tonight.

Thankyou for Ashleys birthday wishes. I think he had a good day, mainly lying in the garden in the sun. (well he is retired). He gnawed the arm of his birthday present ( a 'comfort' toy monkey from my daughter) and removed the squeak! He enjoyed his pilchard birthday cake and loves his new bed. Hope all the kennel houndies enjoyed their cake. xx

Happy 10th birthday to our very handsome Dexter, just can't believe he is 10!!!. We nearly lost him a couple of years ago, he was extremely ill with a mystery illness, but he's a tough old boot, he bounced back and he's still a sturdy old chap, bit of an old grump in the morning (hubby says he takes after me), but we love this grey faced old boy to bits. Have a great day gorgeous, lots of love from Mum, Pops, and best brother Jack xxxxxx

2019 Daybreaks Diary!

Well yesterday afternoon we had a visit from Belle who was homed recently... unfortunately in a collapsed state in the back of the car!! She had been for a walk and started panting and become very lethargic. A cold towel was put over her and I took her temperature which was normal and after about half hour she was becoming a little more responsive and even ate some chicken! She was taken to the vets to be checked and we are hopeful she is doing well... I will keep you posted.... Just to allay fears with the advertisements of a post at Daybreaks, it is in addition to myself and Kate 🙂

Well Horsey was doing his Mule impression again this morning! He went out on his walk with Jackie and was fine going but just wouldn't turn round to come back! The walk lasted a lot longer than normal! When they did return Horsey was such a happy chap tail wagging and a smile on his face! He is a super lad and a real character. Xxx

So so sad to hear Dylan has passed over the bridge. I have lost 4 beautiful Greys over the past few years and I take comfort in the knowledge that all of us who gave them their forever homes made sure they left this earth as beloved pets and will always be remembered this way in our hearts.
