In light of all the comments regarding Wilson’s return of which I whole heartedly agree with. I am in pieces over it and I don’t work at the kennels on the front line so to speak goodness only knows how Ruth and her team cope with this, but thank god you do you are all stars.

Jonny's first night went very well, with not a peep from him. We were greated this morning with a waggy tail and play bows...even if you have only popped upstairs briefly. He's not overly keen on dog treat biscuits, but LOVES cheese. He is strong on the lead at first but then settles into a happy trot. He is clean in the house and LOVES other dogs, so in my opinion he needs another dog to live with (it doesn't have to be a greyhound as he loves my Labrador and follows my greyhound boy Torres everywhere... He is good with small dogs and just wants lots of ear rubs and fuss.. He comes up to all of us here for fuss, it just takes him a few hours to suss you out first. So with time, patience, cheese and another dog he will be well happy. Please someone chose this boy. X

Well done big fella, sounds like you are enjoying your stay with Aunty Lisa & her crew, and certainly benefitting from it too. My Shane also used to sit for a treat, it's a very clever trick to learn as it often gets you extra goodies!! Keep up the good work poppet, and lets hope a new home with a furry friend for company will be yours soon. x

Over the Rainbow Bridge
Barney not a lover of fireworks. Just has we were getting somewhere with Barney the firework season comes around and he refuses to go out. So we have decided to take him out before the fireworks and i take in the early hours of the morning and just get him in the garden with a little bribe in between. He loves his food and ours and he shows lots of love to us all. A really amazing and much loved greyhound.

Sounds like you all had a fab first holiday together. 🙂 I love taking my dogs away and being able to spend lots of extra time with them. I'm sure they need a change of scene and fresh air just as much as we do! :)) Xxx

Sadly this week Gracie has been poorly. The vet has recommended blood tests so we will get to the bottom of it next week. In the meantime we have learned that Gracie is not a firework fan as we were in Birmingham during Divali but we don't have so many in Devon so that's a plus. Grumpy cat's attacks are definitely lessening which is a relief. It's only really in the evenings that she is really a pest. Even though she was not on best form Gracie has been having lots of fun playing with her new lurcher friend Daisy. Daisy isn't used to being outrun so watching them chasing each other is wonderful and good for them both.

The handsome Jonny is staying with me for a few days as kennel life really doesn't suit him. Its also a chance for him to get used to a very busy household of 6 people (3 children) and 3 other resident dogs. He is good with other breeds... If you want to meet this spotty boy, give the kennels a call. X

Casey
Over the Rainbow Bridge
We took Casey for his first holiday last week and we all had a thoroughly enjoyable week in Cornwall. He loved his first trip to the beach although used all of his greyhound speed to avoid the waves. We spent so much time out and about, seeing new sights and smells and then sleeping very well at night. It was great to see him enjoying himself so much. A Google search for ‘dog friendly accommodation’ yielded a long list but we really struck lucky with South Forda Park near Bude. I would highly recommend South Forda as a base for exploring the North Cornwall coast with your hound. The accommodation is great and there are 9 acres of beautiful country side to explore within the estate. It’s beautifully quiet but only a short drive to the local village and 5 miles to one of the best beaches we’ve been to. The owners are a lovely couple who can’t do enough to help and are also considering adopting a greyhound! We will certainly be going back next year.

Lucy. Casey has been spooked too. I bought him a Hugga shirt from AK Creations and it always seems to help him. We have also got some of the calming tablets that are available at the kennels and are going to start him on those in the days leading up to bonfire night. Even so, I still expect him to react badly when there are more fireworks going off. What we can do is to make sure that he is fed and watered before it gets dark so that we stand some chance of keeping him relaxed.
