The lovely Lady showed another side to herself last night - she has absolutely no problem with fireworks! Someone was celebrating something very local to us and Lady just carried on strolling round the garden, ignored all the bangs and happily watched the display! Please could someone find room in their life for this girl? - kennel life is not for the life for this lovely Lady, she is an absolute dream!

Oh my goodness.... what a stressful time you've all had. Hope that your Stevie continues to improve on his medication and is back to full health very soon. We are totally in agreement about insurance Jo and Petplan have been terrific in our experience. We had some huge bills with Lola having a stroke in 2014 when she had MRI scans at the Willows and with. her recent illness and they have never quibbled and been very prompt in payment. Well worth it for the peace of mind. Happy new year to you and the gang xx

So glad to hear your boy is on the mend. We had a situation with our grey Dexter in May, long story so won't bore you with the details but thank God we had pet insurance, 5 over night stays at pet hospital, Mri and Cat scan, drips and various tests came to the lovely total of £3,000. We nearly lost our boy and would have paid the money regardless, but pet insurance is so important to have. Hope Stevie is back to full health soon xxx

I didn't want to post this until I had some better news. This week we had a real panic with Stevie. On Tuesday late afternoon he started to be unwell (won't go into the gorey details). Needless to say our local vet was shut, rang several more, also shut. Tried our local vet emergency number, no luck, rang Willows, still no luck. In desperation I rang Ruth. She very kindly contacted Willows and got through, they advised to go straight over. In the meantime I managed to get through to our emergency vet, I decided to take him there as they have all his history. This resulted in a trip to Coventry where Stevie continued to be very unwell. He was checked out and they advised that it looked like he had an infection, they decided to admit him. He was put on IV antibiotics and fluids and was clearly very stressed. He wouldn't ear or drink. The vets were very good, they rang me on Wednesday morning at 06.30 with an update. He wasn't as stressed as he was, but still was not right. Further update later in the morning saying he was more settled and I could visit him in the afternoon. When I saw him I went into meltdown, he was panting very badly and was obviously in some discomfort. He stayed again overnight and managed to eat 2 sardines. A call on Thursday morning said there had been some improvement and they were hoping to transfer him from Coventry to Sheldon and discharge him home as they felt he would be better off there and hopefully would start eating. They transported him late afternoon and I went to collect him. I could not believe the difference in him from the previous day, he knows the vets and nurses at the clinic and was clearly much happier being around people he knows. He was discharged with 2 lots of antibiotics and 1 lot of gastro tablets. Fortunately, and after all my rambling on, my point is how important it is to have pet insurance. I am with Pet Plan and they will settle the bill directly with the vets if you want. The receptionist did ask if I had requested this with insurers, to which I advised I had, and he said 'thank goodness for that'. The bill for treatments stands at £1200.00! Thankfully he seems to be much brighter and did manage to eat a little cereal this morning and several cheese slices with medication hidden in them. I would like to say a huge thanks to Ruth for all her help and support on Tuesday, it was very much appreciated, again going above and beyond, and also for her call checking how he was when we arrived at the vets. So once again if you are unsure about insurance the moral and importance of this is PLEASE DO MAKE SURE YOUR PET IS INSURED. Jo X (oh and Happy New Year all). xx

Max
Over the Rainbow Bridge
Right, first things first. if you want to know the Daybreaks definition of the word 'FOSTER' translated it actually means you will become a complete and utter failure. I know this as a year ago today I saw post from Ruth saying that Max was struggling in kennels after unfortunately being returned. I contacted her and said as my family were away I could foster him for just over a week, and like that ever happened. He officially became mine on 9th Jan. He is such a different dog, he does the stairs, he has found the bed and after I kept telling people he won't go on the sofa he found that last week! He is toy mad, and races around like the Tasmanian devil sending the rugs skidding across the room. He is such a joy and so loving. So glad I managed to be such a failure. Love you Maxi boy. xxxxx

Maisie (Lady)

Lady, together with Peggy, has been fostered with us since Christmas Eve. Can't believe how quick she settled in to home life, having never been in a home before! Surprisingly she's already house trained, so no problems there. She's very inquisitive - every open door is an opportunity to explore and loves watching (and chasing!) squirrels and birds in the garden. She stands her ground and can be a little stubborn at times but she's full of fun and really loving. She's fine around children but doesn't seem keen on little dogs that she's seen on walks. Lady would make the perfect pet!!!!

This beautiful girl, together with Lady, has been fostered with us since Christmas Eve. She is absolutely adorable and settled very easily into home life. She is very well behaved, loves cuddles and she's house trained. We've been on walks in the park and on a organised walk with others dogs and children and she is so good. She shares well with Lady, and would make the perfect pet, either with another dog or on her home.
