Such an incredibly warm day today but we filled up the paddling pools for our residents and were tempted to paddle too! Tiny had a viewing.... they have gone away to think about it and we had lots of visitors for the sand run and many corns, nails and well care appointments. All the residents enjoyed two walks, grooming, their enrichment games and the fans are on to keep them cool in the heat. I am very grateful to all our volunteers who have helped..... by giving up your time you have made a difference to the lives of the greyhounds currently at Daybreaks.... xxx I am stopping off on my way home to look at a poorly foot and tomorrow I am off to see Phoebe, check her corns and complete her adoption paperwork 🙂

Shirley told us off today! We forgot to give Roxie his Birthday card on Thursday! :(( We tried to make it up to him by signing our rendition of Happy Birthday....not sure he was very impressed with this!! However he did enjoy the Gravy bones and tried to eat his card! :)) Xxx Lots of love to you Roxie. Xxx

Bobby (Bob)

Bob is a quiet well behaved lad who today paid a visit to Elmdon Park. He travelled well in the car. On meeting other breeds he showed no aggression whatsoever. In fact he seemed more wary of them than they were of him !!! Hopefully the loving permanent home this gentle boy deserves will arrive as quickly as possible

Hi Lisa, Greyt to see Buck and Claire meet. I met Claire when she first arrived. Such a lovely girl. Hope Buck is feeling a bit better, by the sounds of it he had bit too much fun in the sand run and caught his toe! Bless him. Volunteers are the wonders of the charity. I have volunteered for nearly 3 years and it has been one of the best things I have ever done. If you do ever want to help out on Saturdays when your free on Roadshows let me know - drop me an email (thacker2519@hotmail.co.uk) this is my personal one as I am having few issues with my Daybreaks one at the minute. Roadshows mostly happen on Saturdays and I welcome anyone that can help out with any amount of time. I can ten add you to my mailing list when new events come up.

Buck (Buick)

Buck made a visit to the Kennels today to meet his sister (Claire)….I so wanted to bring her straight home with us and Buck was very well behaved which was good. He is still a little bit reactive and can grumble at other dogs but he seemed quite taken with Claire. He apologise’s for the drama of painting the run red (and thank you to Kate for looking at his paw as I think I went into a bit of startle mode). One bent claw that looks to not be troubling him at the moment and no clue how it happened but he has a Vet check up/vaccination already booked in this week so we will get it looked at. I also really loved to be back at the Kennels, I miss my Saturdays volunteering but life just seems to be going at such a quick pace I can’t fit everything in. You are all amazing for what you do for the Greyhounds and I’m so glad I’ve been a small part in rehoming three over the years (I just wish I could make that four after today)

I am so glad I got to visit Claire with Buck today. She’s a proper cutie and if I could have I would have bundled her up and took her straight away although there are some things for us to consider and the fact that Buck can be a little reactive is one of them. He’s currently stretched out by the settee and I’m trying to convince everyone I know they need a greyhound called Claire :-).

Claire met her Brother Buck today! They got on very well together. Claire is quite a nervous girl at the moment and she immediately took to Buck and followed him around. When it was time for him to go home, she wanted to go with him. :). They parted at the gate and twice he came back through to see her. :)) It was lovely. Xxx So good to see Buck and his Mom, Lisa again, they both looked great. Xxx

Monty

Our handsome Monty is still waiting for his perfect home. After his previous home sadly didn't work out, he has been back with us since May. He originally arrived last October 2023... He is a very intelligent, happy boy, who absolutely loves to lean and is very affectionate. He enjoys going for a walk, is good on the lead, but he is a big lad and he can sometimes be quite strong. Monty would be happy in a home without young children. He is very playful and he loves toys, especially squeakys but he is not keen on sharing them. Xxx It would be wonderful to see him find his forever home. Xxx

OMG I have just been talking to my partner about Claire, she is the sister of Buck (only two in the litter) and I’ve been telling him that if she comes into daybreaks we have to have her…..realistically I don’t know if we can afford it but is there any chance we would be allowed to meet her with Buck in the sand run.
