Dutchess
Over the Rainbow Bridge
Duchess has today spent 4 hours at the Melbicks Awareness Day. She behaved perfectly with everyone she met. Adults and children as young as 12 months old were greeted with perfect manners througbout the day. She also met many non greyhounds without any problems whatsoever. Strangely when she met her fellow greys she did give off a warning growl but within 5 minutes was mixing with them without any problem at all. Anyone meeting her for the first time with a greyhound please do not be put off by her initial reaction as it is just a show. She is kenneled at Daybreaks unmuzzled with Podge so there is no doubt that she could live with other greys or non greys without any long term problems.

It was nice to meet you today at Melbicks with Norman. You were a very good girl and after a little nervous start you soon settled down. We are sure you enjoyed your day out meeting the people and children. You met some other dogs too who weren't greyhounds, this wasn't a problem at all and you liked your sausages too. We hope it won't be too long before we meet you again as a pet dog as you are a little beauty xx

I received this sad news in the week. Thank you to Delia and her family for giving him such a wonderful 5 months. - Hi Clare, I just wanted to let you and Ruth know that Ted passed away peacefully in our arms this morning after going blind in the night. Our vet Helen said that he had had a haemorrhage behind the eyes and there was pressure in his brain. 2 weeks ago he went off his back legs due to a bug but we got him back on his feet. We only had him for 5 months but boy they where special for us all. He was a wonderful old boy and everyone he saw fell in love with him us included. We went to the beach on Saturday and he loved it and even made it into the sea infact he found his shadow on Saturday and this morning he found his angel. Thank you for letting us give him a home we wouldn't have changed those short months for anything. He now has our boy Midi to take care of him. x

To lose a beloved hound is terrible and very hard to take.Even more so when you lose them in such tragic circumstances as with poor Isla. When we lost our first hound Don last August the pain of our loss was unbearable! We avoided our neighbours for a few weeks and could not mention his name without breaking down for sometime. Our friends did tell us the pain will ease with time and so it did but we still miss him. In time you will look back and cherish the memories you have of the good times secure in the knowledge you gave Isla a loving home xx

My big blue boy Sully has been a god send today and a comfort too at this terrible time. He and Isla loved each other at first sight and he helped her get over her last bit of separation anxiety, I am glad they had chance to live together but so sad it wasn't for long enough. He seems ok today but does keep checking all the beds to see where Isla is I think. Xxx Thank you everyone for your kind words xx
