Many thanks to everyone who came to this months Stratford Walk and special thanks to all the moms who gave up their Mothers Day morning to join the 50 dogs who were there today. Risky together with fellow Daybreaks dogs Kin and Henry enjoyed the walk along the River Avon into Stratford where such a large gathering of greyhounds created much interest with the many visitors enjoying their day out in Stratford. The walk of approx 3 miles was no problem whatsoever to Risky who was as full of energy at the end of the walk as at the start. His broken hock which caused his racing retirement is obviously no problem whatsoever to him now. As has been said many times before he is a very loving affectionate dog who would have no problems living in a home with other greyhounds. Risky came to Daybreaks in November and is now our longest resident. If there is anyone thinking of adding to their greyhound family please give consideration to this loving affectionate boy.

I hope your situation improves. From our experience of having a boy & girl our girl is the boss (so she thinks!). But she knows we are the boss of her. We have a very sensitive laid back boy who could have been dominated very easily so we had to make sure she knew who was here first. Ours are very good together now but are not a cuddly pair together as they both like their own space although they like to know the other one is close by. We used muzzles for a long time with our two (about 6 weeks) but this I think helped in them learning each other boundaries & our expectations in a safe environment. There is no jealousy between our two & we can even leave them close to each other eating a raw bone. Rolo was a little withdrawn at first but we made sure we showed him he was loved & important to us just as he was before. He will still find a corner to hide in when Star decides to have her racetrack impression through the house at times. He is happy to spectate but doesn't want to join in with her. He has his playtime whilst we prepare their food as he knows she will be waiting & watching at the kitchen door. They will find their own place in the pack I'm sure.

Mel was at the kennels today...he did look very sorry for himself and his poor mouth was still bleeding at times. He is back with Ruth and Rob tonight for much needed tlc. Would be so nice if he had a family of his own to go home to. He really is a lovely lad. Xxx
