    Over the Rainbow Bridge

Kylie is continuing to do well with us. She managed all but a few pieces of her kibble today and we discovered that she does actually like pilchards after all. We tried her with them in the first couple of days and she didn't seem to know what to do with them. Today we topped her kibble with them instead of tuna and she tucked into her meal and ate all of the pilchard with no trouble at all. She's now had a couple of days with no wet food topping on her food at all and we're hoping we can keep things this way. We also took all 3 of them for a 2 hour walk down the canal by us this morning. We must have easily covered 4 miles and Kylie trotted along happily with us, easily keeping pace with Lucy who I was walking her with. When we got back, Ben collapsed on the kitchen floor and Kylie was still up and into everything! She certainly has some life. We've managed to leave her a few times in the past week for around 2 and a half hours and everything seemed to be fine when we got back. She's also sleeping through the night and only really gets up when our alarms go off - saying that she's a good back up alarm as if we're not down in ten minutes she has a little cry but she really is doing well in the 3 weeks she's been here.

Hi Melysa have you tried some Hills ID tin food your vet should have some highly palatable dogs love it and it's almost like a mousse so shouldn't cause Ash's teeth any more problems. Best wishes you are doing a fantastic job, hugs to Charlie Mouse as well.

Hi melysa, tinned Chappie is usually quite good for settling tummies, and most hounds seem to like it, but you may need to hand feed small amount? Failing that homemade sardine cake?? He looks a lively boy, I just saw you leaving training last week, perhaps I'll catch you next Saturday, love Becky and Angel 🙂 x

Woody is back 'home' - I am so grateful to Bernie and Mick who have looked after him for the weekend. He has come in, unfortunately done a wee in the lounge but hey ho - it can be cleaned up! He is putting on weight and is currently crashed out already next to Joe and Maggie..... he is gorgeous. Bernie tells me he has been golden at their house - please someone - offer this gorgeous fella a home xxxx

Ahh, thank you! Thanks Jess, but he won't eat that. He ate critical & that at first but will now only eat prime chicken breast & sausages!!! He's really bright today & can't wait to go on walks & we think his loose bowls yesterday may be to do with the painkillers he's been put on, but he seems ok now! I have to say as skinny & weak as he is, he walks much faster than Charlie! My big wish for Xmas is that Ash just puts on lots of weight! x

  • Charlie (Millhouse)

    I’m Homed

"Action Boy" Millhouse has once again been out and about on the road today. He joined 13 other 'already happily homed' hounds at Evesham Country Park Shopping Centre where they were all able to prove what fantastic family pets greyhounds make. Millhouse once again behaved impeccably when meeting adults, children and several other non greys both large and small. He has now most definately learnt that there are other dogs in the big wide world that are not greyhounds and therefore has no problems when meeting them. Hopefully this fabulous lad is now not far away from finding the permanent home he most certainly deserves.

Aargh, Rhia is getting nuttier and nuttier by the day!! She has the biggest helicopter tail in the world and I have removed all objects bar the light from the bedside table as she was knocking everything off. She had also now decided that it is hilarious to start barking at around 5 in the morning and this morning I spotted her leaping in the air and barking at Tilly trying to get her to play. At that time of the morning, Tilly was having none of it. She has also decided that she would like to collect things including shoes, toys and cushions although at least she doesn't chew them (yet!). Finally, she has turned into the fastest thing on 4 legs and speeds around the garden. She is a loveable loon and I can't quite believe she is so different from the nervous girl that came to us only a couple of months ago!

Maybe some lovely people will foster him over the Christmas holidays??. I Would if I could but I know my Ruby dog struggles with socialising with other dogs (even greyhounds) plus I'm in Derby so not near for potential owners to visit him. Such a shame Paddys not found his forever family yet because I bet he's such a gentle giant (how big is he?)......I really hope he does find a home very soon. Love to u Paddy. Xx

Thanks to Melysa and Deb for the updates on Ash...he is quite a character. Despite his problems it sounds as though he really enjoys his Saturday morning training and loves being with his new family. Lots of love to Ash and of course Charlie Mouse! Xxx
