I really do feel for you walkersinwellies, as this is such an upsetting situation. One of my lovely greyhounds hates fireworks even in the distance and as the dreaded time of year approaches, we have to re-schedule our walks as she won't go out in the dark, even into the garden. Luckily for us she must have a mega-bladder so this aspect has never been an issue during firework time We've had her over 3 years now and though she is definitely better than she was, she is simply much happier and copes with her stress by snuggling up in bed and we cover her with a nice fleecy blanket. We've used a few techniques which have all helped, including Julie Sadler's TTouch workshops, the Sounds Scary CD and calming essential oils. It's a daunting situation I do appreciate that, and we are lucky that we have some flexibility with our working hours which enables us to do all of this. They are all different though... our other one Lena is completely oblivious - you can walk her out with bangs and crashes and crackles all around her and it's like nothing is happening, so please don't be disheartened. xxx

We were heartbroken when we returned Mandy yesterday. She is such a lovely dog, very playful, not reactive to other dogs and wonderful on the lead. She slept on her bed all through the night and she doesn't bark at all. Over the last week she had started to become stressed and we couldn't work out why. This would show itself when it was time to go for a walk or even to go out in the garden, from sniffing every blade of grass previously and enjoying her walks she just didn't want to go. She had heard some bangs in the distance and I wonder if this had stuck in her mind. We both work, although I am close enough to come home at lunchtime, but we felt we could not be home enough to see her through this. She really is a lovely dog and I wonder if a doggy companion might help her to give her a bit of confidence. She loves having her tummy stroked and she loves playing fetch with the ball. xxx

This little girl is a perfect princess she is very affectionate, she will come over and lick your hand which means give me a fuss -I agree with everybody else if she was in a home environment I think she would be in her element and would settle very quickly and be just a super dog xx
