Sooty is having the time of her life! She came back from her foster home yesterday as she kept having accidents but landed on her feet when Daire and Annie's owners walked through the gate!!!! She is being fostered at the moment so please keep your fingers crossed as it seems she is being an absolute angel - and - erm - even has a new name already! :-)))) The new photo is of her on a walk this morning x

    I’m Homed

Well, in honour of Denny, I've had put on my PJ's, got my duvet and got some Bush Mills single malt! Helen and the kids went up stairs for a bath, I went out to the shop and Denny just curled up. Jack got upset and started crying about Denny being on his own at night. Afraid that Denny would think that no-one loved him. Kids you have to love them don't you.

    I’m Homed

My mum and Minnie came up to visit me in York over the weekend and we all went to stay in a lovely cottage in Old Byland. Minnie had a great time up in North Yorkshire, despite the cold wind and snow. There were loads of places to explore and she loved every minute of it. I think her favourite moment though was when a hare ran straight down the road in front of us - very exciting for her and me both! I sent Ruth a photo of Minnie and asked if she could please put it on the website. It is a picture I took today in a wooded area just off the Cleveland Way. 🙂

Awww, Lucy J, you made me cry ! It's just awful that no one cared (so many are just cast aside). But it's so fantastic that she now has someone who will look out for her now. Lindy, sounds like you have landed on your feet (or most likely on your back, on a comfy sofa !) Best wishes X

  • Dingo

    I’m Homed

Thank you Deb for introducing us the the lovely Dingo. I met him on the walk in Sutton Park this morning and have bought him home as a foster dog. He went straight out to the toilet and has been clean in the house. His tail doesn't stop wagging when you talk to him. He met the cat and looked away when we said leave it. He seemed more interested in what we were feeding her than her. If anyone is looking for a lovely handsome black boy look no further Dingo is your man. It's been a busy day his now lying flat out snoozing.

Well, so far: - the cat has told him who is in charge - the rat told that the cat was wrong and that the rat was in charge - he went straight outside and went toity - then went for a short walk to show off his new coat - had his tea - now relaxing with in front of the fire. Anyone got any bed time tips?

Toby, you adorable pooch. Not snapped up this weekend? Do you need a foster home for a while I wonder? I'm sure there would be somewhere in our home for you to sleep & crinkle your nose up on!

Like has been said - we all at Daybreaks pride ourselves on offering help and advice .. we take great care to do thorough homechecks and point out the pitfalls as well as the joys of greyhounds, Ruth and all at the kennels go through a lot of it again when the dogs are viewed to double check the prospective owner understands what they're taking on and after the dog is rehomed our home checkers call again regularly to make sure all is well and call until the new owner and dog are settling together. Ruth, the home checker and my phone numbers are in the comprehensive rehoming pack which goes home with every new dog, the phone has an ansaphone which is on 24/7 and checked by Ruth almost 24/7 too. We are all happy to speak to new owners and give help and advice over a wide range of issues as we've all had greyhounds for many years so have usually gone through it too. The free training classes we offer are to encourage people to meet other owners and to help train their new greyhound as greys are very different to any other breed so need a special approach. I'm disappointed that Patricks owners didn't think they went home with much information but at least he's now back with us.

  • Dingo

    I’m Homed

Took Dingo to Sutton today didn't find him a permanent new home but the next best a lovely foster family. Dingo is just lovely and ideal for someone who is looking for their first grey or has other dogs or cats.In fact he would probably fit into most homes with ease. He is friendly, house trained, cat tolerant, has lived with little dogs and is easy to walk on the lead. His tail hasn't stopped wagging all morning,he seems a happy laid back kind of a guy who loved to be amongst all the other greys who were out for their morning stroll. He is quite a big boy but such a softie he likes to curl up in his bed with his own little rag doll. I hope he finds his new home as soon as he can.He has certainly been loved and cherished by his former family.
