to the new owners if youve never had a greyhound before, listen to the advice that Ruth and her team give you. Look for circling whining restlessness pacing up and down all signs of needing to go. Take the dog out several times a day and night, especially before you bed him down for the night, if possible for 5 minutes at a time, often and show him where you want him to toilet . Harsh as this sounds when he has toileted outdoors in your garden don't remove the poo straight away this only tells a dog that you are not pleased with where he has relieved himself . Take him back to the same spot so he quickly learns the spot you want him to toilet in. Give him a small treat it doesnt have to be huge, with lots of praise. Soon he will settle into the routine. If he soils any area of the house soak up with a towel first and then thoroughly clean with a mild solution of bio washing powder or gel, (be careful on wool carpets). Don't feed after 7pm until he has learnt the routine. Although dogs should always have access to water, whilst toilet training it may be best to restrict the amount given at once, as some dogs get anxious in there new surroundings (panting) and so the need to drink more. Its not rocket science just patience and kindness needed and i'm sure you will be rewarded and never look back. Oh and if Patricks new owners are experienced with greyhounds then i'm sorry i am just trying to help, for you this will be a piece of cake as you already know. Good luck Patrick you handsome brindle boy, hope this time it all works out for you, be good and love your new life. xxx

Thank you for your lovely comments Remint and Deb. After 10 minutes in the kennels this morning with stevie (which we've decided to rename him again) we were smitten by his gorgeous face and waggy tail. He's now lying on his new bed after dinner and a sniff round the garden. He's already a treat and we can't wait to show him off to our friends and family! Thank you Ruth and the other volunteers who have given us such a wonderful boy-will keep you updated, tracey especially to you, thank you for fostering him and training him to be a good little boy, he's no trouble at all! From Jo and family xx

Rory went on the Stratford walk today he was an absolute angel. He took everything in his stride on his first big walk outside of kennels. He ignored a couple of very loud guard dogs and wasn't fazed with the non greyhounds on the walk including a Beddlington terrier and 3 legged beagle? who got very close to him.He is one of those boys that likes to lean into you and loves to be cuddled. Rory has stunning markings and his coat is silky smooth, he was very much admired on the walk.He is a lemon brindle and would be at home with me right now if I was allowed another dog. He is a truly handsome boy who is fed up with kennel life so maybe he is the one for you.Pop down and take a peek you wont be disappointed.

    I’m Homed

Hello, we've got Stan home, he was very good in the car! We have had our first night and so far so good!! Stan has coped very well and Luke seems very pleased to have a new friend. Stan has had a few visitors, including the cats!! We have had to get up in the night with him (only to be expected) but he has gone in garden and done his business so that's fab. He seems to like collecting things - our camera, cushions, door stop!!! He is so lovely we are totally smitten!! x
