This gorgeous little girl was speyed yesterday and spent the night at our house. She has been very settled and quiet and likes the security of the crate which she comes out of when she thinks you are not looking! I am going to leave her at home in the warm today and keep an eye on her via the cameras! She ate her breakfast and has toileted outside - a real little poppet!

I agree Emma, we took time off with both of ours too (about 5 days if memory serves!). Of course we kept to our usual activites, but we found it gave us time to observe how they were settling in during the first few days and slowly build up the time they were left on their own before we went back to work-seemed to work for us anyway. Good luck Kai's Mom, you're going to have a great time meeting your 'someone special'. Look out for eyes that bury deep into your soul!!!!! Mand x

Kai'smom, I think it's very sensible to wait, I work from home but I still scheduled settling in time so all 4 of mine knew they had to behave when I was working. As the 'other' Emma says, not long now :0)

Hi Emma, in most cases i would totally agree with you, however, as i already have a grey and a non grey it is purely for my own peace of mind that i want to re-home when i have time off work. My non-grey can be a bossy little madam at times and i would like to be at home for the 'settling in' period just to ensure all goes as smoothly as it possibly can. I'm counting down the weeks until xmas when i have a week off work and i will be down to the kennels the weekend before to hopefully find a suitable grey for us. As people say the dogs choose each other and i am hoping that will be the case. I know little 'tiffs' can happen at any time but i would rather take all the precautions i can.

I am so so sorry to hear about Sunny. Last summer when we lost our grey I came to Daybreaks and met Sunny and set my heart on him. He was a wonderful character. Ultimately we didn't home him as my children were perhaps too young for his lively nature, but I've often wondered how he was doing. In fact, I looked out for him at the Dog Show earlier this month and hoped I would see him. All the very best wishes to his family at this tough time. He really was a very lovely boy and I'm sure you have many happy memories of him. x

You don't need time off work.wen we rehomed ours we were told to get him into normal life routine straight away otherwise he will get stressed once u change him to the normal routine as he won't b used to it.i was at work a few hours the day after we had ours then had the weekend at home then straight into normal daily life and apart from minor seperation anxiety which was resolved by toys and chew sticks he did great

I keep logging on just to look at this sweet face, what's his temprement like?he looks like he might be full of beans and maybe excitable?? I no some are put off by dogs failing their car test (I don't no how he would be) but our dog certainly failed his but he is amazing and it's not caused us any problems

No-one realises yet what a wonderful dog you are. Quiet and good natured, you will make someone a lovely pet. If we had not had our quota of greys at home, you would have been top of our list. We are watching your progress with interest. Harryracer x
