    I’m Homed

Barney update.. I checked the lovely Barney boys race history and although he's only raced 21 times over 2 years, he's ran at 8 tracks. Not sure if it was with the same trainer but may explain his insecurities. He's doing great with his walks, and it's apparent he 'halts' when he's spooked by something or someone. Lots of talking and praise keeps him going. Barney's cleverer than the average grey, he's learned in only one day that the stairs is a no go and to 'wait' before jumping out of the car.He slept through last night with no cries/barking or 'accidents' It was fingers crossed when I left for work this morning hoping he wouldn't be stressed and rearrange the house in my absence! However, there was no need to worry, all was in order save for a tiny puddle in the kitchen when Ellis got home. There's a bit of work to be done with his interest in other dogs as he tends to bark when he spots one, but he's not uncontrollable,he's just inquisitive which can also be endearing. He's a very loving boy, last night he lay with his head on my lap and he's crashed out beside me now. He's great with H too and no signs of grumbles or jealousy with food/fuss. I don't intend to keep him on, he's here to help him settle into home life and gain a bit of stability in his life. So ideally I'd like to keep him until he finds a permanent home rather than him go back to kennels again. If you are interested in Barney, please contact Ruth and I'll be happy to make arrangements for you to meet him. In my humble opinion I think a home with another grey would be best for Barney. I'll keep you all posted. Tina x

Great news - he does look a lovely dog with those little flecks of white on his coat. I would love to foster if i lived closer but i know i would never want to give them back. Would love to see some photos of him in his new home 🙂 Now if we could just persuade Dale's fosterers to keep him!

Ah rumblesmom, thanks for such kind words. We're just so glad that there is a difference in him and you're right - his personality is really starting to emerge, he will make someone a fabulous companion.

You're right there Shelly. I don't know what i'd do wothout his comforting, sometimes slightly windy, presence beside the sofa. Think they should be called great hounds not grey hounds (except when theres a squirrell or a hedgehog afoot lol xx)

Don't worry Dandy. You're such a nice dog and lovely to walk even for an unexperienced greyhounder like me. Hopefully someone will fall in love with you this week end xx

Joe is getter better and now getting used to settling in the living room in front of the fire in the evening. Unfortunately the toy he came with has been stolen by Fire and nigh on destroyed! We are going to get some more robust toys. He still hasn't learnt about not running at the chicken tractors but he will get used to them but is enjoying all the space to run in and all the sights and smells on his walks.

Dandy, I am so sorry we could not take you here in France but we need to get Fire and Joe settled with Hope and Noble before we commit to another grey. You are a lovely looking dog and will find a home very quickly I am sure. Big cuddles.
