Dear God, Fearne is pulling at my heartstrings at the moment , Ive never met her , but her story makes me proper sad , I would like to have her but that would , as you know , be impracticable , so the next best thing , please find Fearne a home with someone who will just put up with anything until that great day when Fearne finally gets Home life and all the human rules associated with it... Ruby has been with us nearly a week and is learning fast - as are we! kitchen worktops have never been so uncluttered!! Shes a 'collector', so flowerpots and the occasional shoe have ended up in her bed ... and a 'snaffler', so a phone and a book have been swiped off the table ... but she's not naughty, just finding out what's what in this new world where there is stuff around, not just the four walls of a kennel. she's met the cats, and is definitely more interested in their food than in them, but introductions will continue slowly. By the way, for those concerned - by long lead I don't mean an extendable lead - horrid things! we are just getting her used to walking under close control (to heel) and with a bit more freedom on a double-length lead, but still under control. Between us we've lived with greyhounds for about 30 years, so while she may be new to this game, we're not 😉

Well Bertie has now returned from his first holiday in France, he really loved it and had his 6th Birthday whilst we were away, it is hard to think that we have only had him a short time, he has just fitted in so wonderfully !! he loved running up and down the beach and showed off his cool coat to all the french doggies he met ! we also met up with another 2 greyhounds ( Claude and Gypsy ) who are ex-racers from Hove, Bertie just loved Gypsy who became his holiday romance ( when they left he kept going over to try and find her ) and Claude was the biggest greyhound I have ever seen but scared of his own shadow !! we came back a bit early so we could come to the open day at daybreaks and it was well worth it !! xx

Congratulations Martie I know you will have a wonderful life at my sister in laws, ( after marching into the house and having a good look around you had already claimed the harth rug as your own and it was lovely to leave you fast asleep on it when we left ) Bertie is sooooo pleased that he will be able to run with his brother !! Larry

Larry is a really wonderful dog. He has such a waggy tail and always seems to have this massive grin on his face after he's been racing around the garden or when he sees you in the morning. There have been no accidents in the house for the past three nights, which is an excellent sign and Larry no longer barks at night. Well, unless you leave the bowls in there in which case he knocks them all about and worries himself with the noise they make. (An easily fixable problem, we just remove all the bowls!) His coat is really starting to come through now, hopefully it won't be too much longer until it is all lovely and glossy. The hair on his bum is also starting to regrow as well. I took him for another walk with Miley yesterday and the same thing happened, only he pulled much more strongly as he recognised him this time. I will see if Larry gets on with my grandma's male dogs at some point soon, as some dogs just do not get along so it wouldn't be fair to judge Larry on his reactions to Miley alone. Larry is getting jollier by the day and he loves being a part of whatever is going on in the house. He is also like a semi-shadow to me, wherever I go he also follows, which is very sweet but he didn't quite understand why I needed him out of my room whilst I was trying to assemble a double bed in there! Whoever adopts this boy will be very lucky indeed, he is so loving and a real joy to have around.

It was great to meet Sheldon and walk with him today, what a lovely dog he is! He got on really well with our grey Marnie, very gentle and friendly. Hope he gets his forever home soon. x

Well that was quick or was he a tombolla prize! Whoever has "won" him is very lucky ,a star of a greyhound and a lovely affectionate calm boy as well. What a wonderful way to end the birthday celebrations a rehoming which is exactly what Daybreaks is all about.Brilliant.
