Just an update on Amber..... I'm pleased to say she is doing very well. She has her dressing changed every 3 to 4 days and apart from one stitch breaking all seems well. They are still concerned about too much tension on the wound caused by pulling the two sides together but fingers crossed. Thanks everyone for your kind thoughts x x x

Hi Susy, we would have loved to come to Kingsbury and may well do in the future, but the walk I spoke of is on Cannock Chase run by Monmore Green RGT and is much closer to our home. Neil works in Coleshill, but we live half hour down the toll road from the kennels, so we know Kingsbury area and will get to the next one. Hope to meet you soon.

Fire and I have been working on his fluffy issues. So far, he is listening to me more and showing promise. Here's a link to a video of Fire in training. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x-5lT9PM5Uc&feature=youtu.be Fire shows he is willing to learn and funny too, lol.

An update on Marnie, well we are all besotted and she is doing really well. She is still a very clean girl (only 1 mishap in a week), loves going upstairs, hates coming down but will stay at the bottom if told to. She is a bit too interested in squirrels, but this one did run along the garden panel, way too tempting but we got her attention and herded her back in the house. She is a little timid with other dogs when out walking but is usually quiet and calm when they are around. She is great in the car and goes for walks on Cannock Chase now, as well as our local woods and park. We are still working on separation anxiety, and slowly she is learning that it's OK to be alone for a while. She adores children, and is quick to learn her boundaries. A wonderful pet and great company, we love her so much. She is going on the Great British Greyhound Walk close to our home next weekend, we think it will be good for her to see some other greys for a change. All in all, no regrets whatsoever, she's a star!

    Over the Rainbow Bridge

Jack didn't howl this morning! I was a little confused when I wasn't woken up by it though... We took him out on a walk to Warwick Racecourse yesterday, he conquered the railway steps no problem so it looks like it is just the steepness of ours that really puts him off going down. When we got onto the racecourse there were far too many rabbits to go and chase / investigate. He kept slowing down and then dashing forward on the lead as if to say, "Ohh, go on, let me off. I want to have a run and see all those yummy rabbits." We didn't dare let him off though, he hadn't been there before so you could pretty much guarantee that everything else would be more interesting than us and we'd have a real job getting him back. So poor old Jack looked a little miserable that he wasn't allowed to go off like our two. When we let Freya off (she runs around very fast) he went nuts and was spinning, pulling and hopping because he wanted to join in with all the fun and run round / play with her. After she'd run back and forth a few times he calmed down though and went back to walking ever so well on the lead. He really is model dog when we take all of them out for a walk together. I just went to remove a tick (our Retrievers appear to have picked a fair few up) from the hallway and had shut all the dogs in the lounge so they didn't tread on it. After getting rid of the thing I go back into the lounge only to see Jack relaxing in my spot on the sofa! I call our dogs out and put them in the kitchen (to restrict any falling ticks to one area) and Jack goes with them, bless him. Then, after we both get back to the lounge, he has the cheek to try and get my sofa spot again! He appears to have mastered a very forlorn look, which he pulled expertly when I told him he was not getting the sofa seat back. He really is such a character.

I'm so proud of my special girl. She is everthing I could have wished for ....and more. I was worried though that she might not be able to resist the food manners exercise where Liz was sitting in the chair with a packet of crisps. Not particularly because of the crisps but because she probably wanted to go say hello to Liz! She does love everyone at training! x

We certainly are very6 proud of her. She did very well and got there in the end! We always knew she could do it.....she just sometimes decided not to bother with the exercises and go exploring instead to see if she could find Julie's fluffy toys! I don't think I breathed at all during her 1 min down-stay! x

We have Kylie staying with us at the moment. She is the sweetest little girl, she loves affection & cuddles. She shows no discomfort & is taking her tablets daily. She loves her food & wolfs it down, plus some of Pegs & Maxs that she can sneak. But we're telling her no & she's starting to get the message. She's very good & going into the garden to do her business. We've only had one little mishap & that was when she first arrived. She's great with our dogs & no problems with other dogs when out walking. All in all she'll make someone the perfect companion, she's just so lovable. xxx Val, Ray, Peg & Max.

    Over the Rainbow Bridge

We were suspecting that may be the reason Deb, so we're just being very patient with him and taking him out on his morning walk a little while after he's gone out into the back garden and had his breakfast. Not quite at 7 in the morning, but close enough for my liking! I took him to the park again this evening when there was nobody there, but my mum came with me this time so we could call him between us. It went loads better and he had a great time sprinting about like a loony. He did overshoot a little when we called him back, but that was only because he couldn't slow down in time. As long as the ground stays good I think I'll keep taking him back to practice the recall - but he has improved so much since yesterday, he really is a very clever dog and cottons on fast. We got some more duvets today from my Grandma's which I'll be donating to the kennels when I bring Jack up to go to his new owner. We'd dumped them at the bottom of the stairs to be moved later, only when we came back Jack had made himself at home on them! He looked a little silly due to the way the duvets were positioned somewhat like a mountain, but he looked comfy nonetheless. Thank you very much for the info Deb, I'll see if I have access to the car on Friday (I have a horrible feeling my mum is using it for work) and contact Julie if it is free and I am able to get down there. =) If the weather remains sunny and I can make my camera work correctly I'll try and get some running shots when we are in the park. Possibly some standing ones as well if he remains still for long enough, only everytime I knelt down to get one of him standing he walked over and licked my face along with giving my jumper a good sniffing (it is where I stash all those yummy treats!)
