So pleased for the big boy it sounds like being in a home with good role models is working wonders with him.

What adventure he is having and he seems to be having lots of fun in his foster home. Lots of new experience to befuddle his greyhound brain. I think he could be making a noise early in the mornings because this was the time he got up with his previous owner for his early morning walk! I think Jack was one of those greys that was mostly on a lead and didn't do much off lead other than in enclosed spaces for safety reasons which could be why he sprinted past you!! You could always bring him to the stables on Friday for a good run you can contact Julie (Saturday training) for details.

    I’m Homed

Oh Tash this is the best news since I got back from my disastrous camping holiday, I've thought of nothing but Billy all week. He is sooooo adorable, he just couldnt handle it when H cried (she is 6 so its not that often). I'm so glad he is in a home again for a while. Hows his limp? I miss him terribly and only had him for 6 days. Watch out for his feet...okay to touch whilst he is standing LOL! He is a pleaser and eats well, walks brilliantly and has excellant dog manners - so sorry that we had to bring him back......Good Luck Billy Bob xxxx t

    Over the Rainbow Bridge

Fire passed his test of being left alone with my two greyhounds with flying colours. We were out today for a good 2 hours and went home with everything intact(lol). According to my son who stayed in his room, he didn't hear anything when we left and Fire seemed to join Denn and Floppy in their beds. The pack instinct worked with him well. That being said, I believe Fire can adjust easily in a home with another greyhound. Fire still reacts to other dog breeds when we walk him. His prey drive is high. Only through constant exposure to other dogs, cats, squirrels and etc and through time could lessen this. It worked on my first greyhound Dennis as he was the same and maybe even worst than Fire. Now Dennis has been more tolerable with the fluffy wild life/toys and friendly towards other dog breeds. The best news is that Fire is enjoying home life. Living with us now for almost a week, he is constantly improving everyday with our routines. He loves the chill out session with the boys. The running around the garden. The fuss and attention given him. He is more relaxed. The welcome home committee has grown as well as everytime we come home and open the front door, Fire is there with Denn & Floppy, wagging his tail away, giving us the warmest welcome home a dog could give. He is sooo adorable. XXX - Myrna

Hi Gail sorry not replied before now but have not use site for a while. Glad to hear how alike Paul and jess are. It was also amazing to find out you live in Cannock as we are only down the road in Rugeley. We just have to meet up as we are so near to each other. We are going on The Great Greyhound walk on the Chase on 17th June at Marquiss Drive and would be gret if you could make it. We would love to see the two of them together. Hope to see you soon. Love to all. Elaine, Graham and Jessxx

    Over the Rainbow Bridge

Now that Jack has been with us a few days his personality is really starting to shine through. He is quite cheeky and a real opportunist. If a plate with some leftover food is sitting on the table then he'll slowly stretch his face out to it, even if we are saying "No Jack", just to test how far he can get before we actually get up to move the food. Then when we do get up he darts off back to his bed with a look of, "Me? No, I wouldn't dream of taking that off the table." He is such a liar, albeit a very sweet one! Yesterday Jack decided to come up the stairs again but this time he would not walk down them at all. After about 15 minutes of trying to persuade him otherwise I just picked him up and carried him down. He did squirm a little but otherwise he was very well behaved - he hasn't attempted the stairs again since. He has also started to howl at around 6:40 or 7:40 in the morning, no matter how late we let him out he still does it. I'd much rather him howl than bark as it doesn't carry as much, but I don't want to encourage it by going down and letting him out as soon as he starts. So I have taken to just lying in bed and waiting for him to stop, then getting up and letting them all out in the garden. I took him to the park the other day for a bit of a sprint round and to test his recall in an unfamiliar environment, as he is generally pretty good in our garden. Turns out it has all kind of slipped his mind a little. He clearly knows his name but everything else in the park was far more interesting than me and cheese cubes. When he did come running back towards me, "excellent" I thought, he's finally getting it, only he went whizzing past and stopped about 10 meters away from where I was standing, looking rather pleased with himself. When the ground dries out a bit and the park is empty I'll take him back there again to just keep working on it as it is probably the best and safest place to practice near here. Jack also managed to give himself a little scratch just below his eye this morning, the way it was bleeding you'd think it was something far more serious. I don't know how he managed to do it as I checked all the surfaces (table / desk corners) that he could've possibly hurt himself with and none have blood or fur on them. Either way, it looks like he has just scraped the fur off and it isn't bothering him at all, which is good. He also weed up the corner of the door this morning, only a tiny little one a it must have been an excitement / anticipation thing as our dogs was going loopy at the prospect of my mum coming downstairs. He is a very jolly boy and does love his fuss. He also really likes having company, but this may just because he is still in an unfamiliar environment. He starts to whine when either of our dogs aren't about, or one of us isn't, but I'm sure that will get better as he settles in more and becomes more relaxed.

    I’m Homed

Aztec is such a sweet boy and a real gentleman. Brilliant on walks, so far so good with other breeds and a cat we saw, especially considering ours were going nuts. So glad he's decided not to join in. Some of his pilchards got stuck in the corner of the bowl tonight so difficult to get at. I put my hand in his bowl to move it and he let me, no growls, no fuss. He even nicely shared the sauce that was left from Magic's bowl with Fire. Such a sweet natured boy. I am praying that we can keep him, but if we can't then I know whoever adopts him will be very lucky indeed.

Well Billy is...adorable! He is loving the company of my 3 hounds and is being calm with my 2 boys...he eats well, is a dream to walk and is trying really hard to please...I'll update you on how he's settling in, as he's already been in a home before, wouldn't it be lovely if he could go from here to a home and not back into kennels, he is adorable! If you are interested in giving him a home you are more than welcome to come and see him here x

Fire can do stairs, up and down. He is also quite good on a lead. He is muzzled everytime we go for walks as we don't know when is the next fluffy thing would pop out. He definitely loves a company whether greys, human or both. I don't know yet how he is with being left alone as usually my 19 and 16 year old children would alternately look after him whilst Bri and I work. They did tell me he whimpers a little when we've just close the door behind us but after a minute he would join in with either my other two greys or my children. This weekend is a perfect opportunity for me to test him being left alone with my other two greys whilst we food shop and ask my teeners just to remain in their rooms and observe him. I do hope he would copy my boys in just snoozing away when we are not around. We'll see, fingers-crossed. - Myrna

Hi Sylv, I am sure it will be very hard for you and John to see Mindy's plaque for the first time, but hope it helps to have a permanent reminder of her at Daybreaks. I hope to see you at the BBQ. Love Kate and Twiggy xxx

The fabulous Ray and Val have offered to keep an eye on Kylie and look after as she is not well. I am also grateful to Michelle at Bark Inn Kennels for looking after the other Daybreaks greys whilst Daybreaks is closed for maintenance.

I am Shanesmum`s husband and I think you deserve a new start in life. I would have offered to foster you while the kennels were being refurbished but we have commitments over the next week which we cannot drop.I hope you will not be too unsettled by moving to alternative kennels during the refurbishment. I look forward to seeing you on the wednesday 20th.
