aww I just loved that video, talk about puppy dog eyes! Love the part where he just can't take it any longer and walks away!

Aztec
I’m Homed
Aztec is contiuing to be a superstar on his walks, and ignorning the local dogs and cats - even though my other greys go crazy at them. He is learning to wait his turn for food and not trying to eat anyone elses, and he has learnt to lay down before he is given his chicken. He is picking up house life very well 🙂 He is still not sure about the stairs. He managed to come down all by himself on Saturday (perfectly) but doesn't want to go up anymore. Maybe he will in time. He's such a sweet boy and loves fuss, but he doesn't force himself on you. He will wait patiently for a cuddle. Love him, love him xxxxxx

Fire
Over the Rainbow Bridge
Thanks all. I've just continued what Deb/Julie already started with using treats in training Fire with the fluffies. Lately, I started using more of praises and less of the treats coz I don't want him to rely heavily on the food reward. It is working with Fire coz now his eyes are focus on me rather than the food. He still pinches the fluffy every now and then but the big difference now is he listens when I ask him to stop or leave it instead of being so fixated in destroying it. Other dog breeds still affects him though when we go for walkies but I could feel the keenness is gradually changing. His biggest achievement so far is being left alone with my two greyhounds for a longer period of time without creating a mess or making loud crying noise. He just chill out and sleeps most of the time with Dennis and Floppy. Night time, he sleeps soundly and wakes up the next morning. He only moves when I initiate getting up to start my morning. I still don't trust him in the kitchen, so that part of the house has been fenced off using the clothes airing stands, lol. He is actually good not testing to jump over it coz I remembered when we fostered Amber, she jumped over it successfully. 😀 It goes to show Fire is a good greyhound and keeps getting better. He just needs some guidance on how to live in a home. We greyhound owners know ex-racers only knew the kennel life their entire life before retirement. In time, he will enjoy just being retired, lol. I do hope somebody would give him that chance of a forever home and happy retirement. Did I say he is sooo lovingly sweet? For Fire, you are his world! xxx

Love the video of the training session - he certainly seems to be starting to listen & respond to instructions. Just adore the way he eventually gets up and wanders off! Keep working hard boy and you'll get a lovely home soon. x

Kylie has been to the Vets today & she is doing well & getting better. No more tablets needed. She's still being very good at home. Her & Max are really getting on well, they have a mad play together everyday. Peg just looks on from the couch, as much to say " too energetic for me ". xxx Val,Ray,Peg & Max.

Hi joy, pleased to see Fire has started to listen to you. I have Max, he's fine with toys, but mad when he sees other breeds, doesn't matter big or small, he's not like Fire he doest listen to me, or take treats. The word NO is the only word that he sort of responds to, but he has had 8 years doing what he likes . Good luck with Fire I'm sure he's going to be a perfect boy one day :)))))) C & M xx

Hi Joy That's great and he's really listening to you 🙂 I find too that if you have some really tasty food like liver or sausage then you can reward him for 'Leaving it' he'll remember to always 'Leave it' as the 'payback' is much better than the fluffy 🙂 I agree with you that he's a very intelligent boy 🙂 and thought he was lovely 🙂 Great job 🙂 Jx

Amber (Bow)
Over the Rainbow Bridge
Just an update on Amber..... I'm pleased to say she is doing very well. She has her dressing changed every 3 to 4 days and apart from one stitch breaking all seems well. They are still concerned about too much tension on the wound caused by pulling the two sides together but fingers crossed. Thanks everyone for your kind thoughts x x x

Hi Susy, we would have loved to come to Kingsbury and may well do in the future, but the walk I spoke of is on Cannock Chase run by Monmore Green RGT and is much closer to our home. Neil works in Coleshill, but we live half hour down the toll road from the kennels, so we know Kingsbury area and will get to the next one. Hope to meet you soon.

An update on Marnie, well we are all besotted and she is doing really well. She is still a very clean girl (only 1 mishap in a week), loves going upstairs, hates coming down but will stay at the bottom if told to. She is a bit too interested in squirrels, but this one did run along the garden panel, way too tempting but we got her attention and herded her back in the house. She is a little timid with other dogs when out walking but is usually quiet and calm when they are around. She is great in the car and goes for walks on Cannock Chase now, as well as our local woods and park. We are still working on separation anxiety, and slowly she is learning that it's OK to be alone for a while. She adores children, and is quick to learn her boundaries. A wonderful pet and great company, we love her so much. She is going on the Great British Greyhound Walk close to our home next weekend, we think it will be good for her to see some other greys for a change. All in all, no regrets whatsoever, she's a star!
