Hi Simon&Jay (and everyone else wondering).... where do I start! Amber is a lively, happy girl who is approx 1 year old. We think she is a greyhound x Lab but came to us as a stray in December and we couldn't bear to think of her going to somewhere like the Dogs Home where she would be kennelled all day. She needs someone who is firm with discipline as she has bundles of energy but equally becomes more settled with routine. She went to a home where she had an owner that was around her a lot but after she was neutered her behaviour deteriorated which is when she was returned. She went to another home recently but she was spoilt rotton (great for Amber but not for separation anxiety) and was returned because of her chewing when left. I took her home when she was returned for the first time and she was good at being left, however after her most recent return I watched her on the cameras when left at home and saw that she was into everything, chewing what she could but then would crash out and sleep (as puppies do). We have found she has become more settled as we are very firm with her and at night she sleeps downstairs with our 6 greys and is unmuzzled and very settled. She is housetrained also. If she has a good long walk and her breakfast she will generally settle for a couple of hours so feel she would suit a home where she is not left for more than a few hours at a time and would need the company of another dog to help her as she loves to sleep curled up next to them. Now.... comes to the crunch..... I am DESPERATE to find her a foster home for a 10 day period from 18th May as I have my sister coming home from Japan and I am planning a few days off so can't leave her all day unattended. She seems frightened initially of men she doesn't know but other than her SA and playfullness these are her only downfalls.

Oh my goodness, I'm not surprised you panicked - please don't apologise! Poor Evi :0( I don't know the answer, but I have been thinking about doing a canine first aid course for just the same reason. I've previously had a quick look around on t'internet and found a few, but what I think looks like a really good one is by Galen, who I've heard positive reports from from various sources. https://www.caninetherapy.co.uk/workshops/first-aid-for-dogs/ It's quite a way away (West Sussex) but the reason I liked it is because it's a whole day not just a couple of hours, it's taught by a vet, and there's also the option of doing extra study and getting OCN accreditation. This is something I'll need if and when I decide to do the canine chiropractic course after I graduate from the human course next year. Anyway, I'm waffling, if I do go it'll probably be after my exams at the end of Nov so if you fancy a car share I'm up for it! Em x

Hi!! Just back from a bank holiday trip to South Wales where Jed & Minnie have been off having fun on the beach! Jed has made so much progress since we last took him- he meets so many different dogs there & there's footballs galore but he was fabulous!! Although he cries a bit when he meets other dogs (don't forget he cries at most things bless him!!) he sniffed, said hello and was a real gent!! So proud of him 🙂  Hi Bella, ha ha I'm sure PC Toal loves being spotted really!!! Glad you liked Jed he is gorge!! I see you're hoping to rehome Rose & wish you loads of luck xxxx  I ended up 'fostering' after I helped my friend out with her grey, Belle- I took Belle home with me for 3 days as she was ill & needed to eat so she could take her medicine. Then after she went to her forever home Ruth said her kennel mate was very unhappy & not eating & would I take him home.....Jed's been here since then & Im happy for him to stay until someone can offer him a home! Going back to the kennels might set him back & he's made so much progress so he's here until a forever home can be found!! So really it was by accident but it was something I was definitely interested in doing & it's very rewarding!! Xxx

I saw Mini on Sunday. I passed her several times and thought I just had to go in and sit with her. As soon as I did, well, I got soaked in kisses and cuddles - very loving and such a cutie. xx

Oh my word, don't, just when we've planned for Rose, look who comes along! We had exactly the same with our eldest as this little darling has had. She is a beautiful intelligent 'bored easily' girl who just needs lots of toys and stimulation. Our eldest Bella was just like her. XX

    Over the Rainbow Bridge

Hi sorry, just wondered if we could ask for advice again?! Had a bit of a scare on Saturday night, every Sat we give our girls a pig's ear for a treat and for the first time suddenly we heard a horrible retching sound and Evi must have got a piece stuck and was choking. She was so distressed and writhing and coughing and we didn't know what to do - my husband tried patting her hard on the back, tried to get his fingers in her mouth - which she wouldn't allow - and I was going to run to the phone for the vet but it was out of hours so by the time I'd called, got the emergency number, phoned it and explained how to get to the house I'm sure it would have been too late. Anyway, after a lot of panic, back patting, throat rubbing etc it moved and she calmed down and is fine now, but if anything happens like that again do you know what we can do to shift anything that gets stuck in their throats? I never give them a treat like this when I'm not here to watch them and I'm now tempted not to give them things like that again but it's been ok for a whole year and they do love pig's ears more than anything else and it's probably just a one-off, but just in case it happens again? As I said, I don't think the vet would be in time would they if they really were choking?! Sorry, it was just a shock!!!!

What is the problem here? I can't believe she has too many problems because she seems to be ok at Ruths house. Can anyone enlighten us to what is going wrong?
