    I’m Homed

Hi Sharon. We also have 2 girls (Lola & Lena). We've been through this behaviour with both of ours too. To be honest, we just left them to it if they chose to be on their own. If they preferred to be in their night-time bed then so-be-it but eventually they got over it and decided that they want to be with us. Even now, very occasionally one of them will decide not to join us in the lounge in the evening. Sometimes it's the whole evening, other times just for an hour or so. Very often whoever it is will potter through to the lounge a bit later on so not sure if they just have a need for an extra rest. Ours don't sleep in the kitchen though (Lena can't be trusted to be left alone with the bin) but don't think that would make any difference - they are in the ex-dining room - now the dog's own room! We do call them both to the lounge and if they come at the time they are called then they get a treat - if they don't then they don't get anything so it becomes their choice. Not sure if this will help. Linda x

    I’m Homed

OMG my mum took me swimming today, i was so frightened, i had to put a life vest on and then go up a ramp into the water, i really did not want to go but a lovely lady came in with me and held me and cuddled me whilst i was in the pool. i only paddled with my front legs a little bit but everyone said that i was being very clever. i was very happy when i was allowed out again but i had forgotten how to walk my legs were shaking so much from fear. i was then dried with a fluffy towel and had my cosy fleece on and in the van mum gave me a pig's ear for my troubles...i am in my bed now as i feel very tired....looks like i am going again next week though...i guess i'll get to like it sometime!!!! lots of love Toby...ps i walked all the way round the block this morning 🙂 xxxx

Thanks Mand. I'm not as brave as it sounds tho, I've had some moments and am not looking forward to his time at all, but I am determind for him to be as happy as can be for as long as can be. What I can tell you though is that my vets have been absolutely wonderful and I have been singing their praises locally like mad. They have done everything to make this as pain reduced as possible for both woofles and mad human. I'll pass your e-cuddle onto him IRL, he'll be most impressed xxx

Hi Stephers. What an incredibly brave message. My heart goes out to you all. How amazing though that Stig has already learned to climb the stairs again despite his limitations - he sounds like a very determined gentleman and I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for him. He definitely gets my e-cuddle today. Mand xxxx

Hi All, thanks for your good wishes. Stig has had to have his left rear leg amputated to take away the pain. Ironically, this is not the same one that was broken (ending his racing career). He is recovering well from the surgery and has re-learned how to get up and down stairs. Unfortunately, his prognosis is not much improved and I'll be lucky to still have him by easter. But we have had a wonderful two years together so far and are making the very best of what time we have left. He is being spoilt rotten. xx
