Chris here, Kate's husband (Paddy's dad!). Just want to say how much Paddy has enriched our lives. He is so placid and gentle and I can't believe how he's settled in so quickly. He appears to be enjoying his retirement immensely and during a stressful day at work I really look forward to my evening walks with the Paddymaester. He adores Kate and follows her around constantly - I suppose I ought to be jealous that Kate's got another man in her life (who's very handsome and Irish) but I'll let her off because it's Paddy and he's a legend!

    I’m Homed

First of all, apologies - I should have put an update on here ages ago... but... I've had my hands full! After much heart-searching, checking of boot size, financial calculations and cat-training, Frankie (Jet) has decided that she is staying here to live with us and our 2 kids, 3 other greys (including her litter sister Sadie - Chaotic Pearl), 2 cats and 6 chickens! Frankie is an absolute star, she tells me when she needs to go out and toilet, is gentle with the kids and when taking food, walks beautifully on the lead and, as long as they are polite, is fine with other breeds (so far we have met Spaniels, Labs, Staffies, Beagles, Weimeraners, Borzois, other greyhounds and an over-enthusiastic JR) and she even ended up resting her head on a friendly sheepdog at the Waseley walk! She comes when called, goes to bed when told (which is more than the kids do), is a proper little cuddle-monster and is as bright as a button - it feels like she's been here for years not weeks. It's not for me to judge why she was returned and I can only guess that this lovely girl must have been so deeply upset at the loss of her greyhound companion to have acted in the way she was alleged to have done. Nevertheless we are ALL over the moon that Frankie is now with us - as Ruth always says things happen for a reason and this is it. Oh yes, and just to prove the point, just like Sadie she has my initials EB tattooed in her ears :0)

This is so true! I have a puppy lurcher -tiny 10kgs - looks bit like a grey.....many of the greyhounds accept her as 'one of them' albeit mini size, many of them stare, tremble (either fear, or excitement of this 'Big bunny lure'), lick their lips and want to lunge! Spesh as she is very vocal and squeaks a lot!! Not their fault, they cant help instinct, their previous job, and luckily the pup doesn't notice/respond. sounds like Paddy is in the calm laid back category, lovely.x

Hi there. Hope to bump into you sometime with your new girl. We are the couple with the 2 black girls who live not far away from you - you once came out to say hello when we walked past your house. Aimee is very pretty and I hope she will be a lovely addition to your family. Best wishes from Linda, Paul and the 2 black girls Lola & Lena x

Um don't want to panic but was he off lead? If so he would be a phenomenal hound to be so obedient so quickly... and you'd be very welcome to take the training class for me LOL Usually we find they're a bit 'shut down' when they first go into homes (but also can be calm not shut down) ... it usually takes them a while to get used to their new world so please be careful when other breeds are about as greys have not usually seen other breeds and can be scared of them or think they're bunnies ... 🙁 Julie x
