Natalie, Mark, children and Bobby, I am so very sorry to hear this heartbreaking news. Kitty had a wonderful life with you, albeit much too short. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. An interesting article in Your Dog magazine for July 2021- a dog had a Mast Cell Tumour in his mouth, the owners vets referred him for new, ground-breaking electrochemotherapy at a specialist oncology centre -Oncologist Gerry Polton at North Downs Specialist Referrals in Surrey. The electrochemotherapy could apparently be targetted only at the tumour using a probe then the chemo is delivered directly to the tumour without causing the tongue to lose tissue or function (quoting from the article). The tumour that the dog in the magazine had has completely disappeared following the treatments. Hopefully this might help Caesar too, it's so upsetting when they find retirement and are ill. Using specialist cancer units can access state of the art treatments, one of my deerhound lurchers had an aggressive malignant tumour on a foreleg and we took him to Cambridge Vet School and Davies White near Hitchin for radiotherapy and he survived and recovered well xx

Daybreaks Diary!

Well, what a grotty day that was!! We managed walks this morning in the drizzle and light rain - but by the afternoon the downpour was relentless, and walks were abandoned! Instead we caught up on health checks, teeth cleaning, grooming - and a tidy & reorganisation of the office (sorry Kate & Jo - you may never find anything again!!!!). The lovely Leo gets my Gold Star for standing so beautifully and cooperating so well when having his teeth cleaned - he does enjoy the extra attention, and his teeth are looking good! I met the gorgeous new arrivals. Delli is an absolute delight - she "bounces" at you for fuss and cuddles, was quite keen on her lead at the start of the walk, well everything is still so new and strange to her, but she soon calmed although was a bit spooked by the noisy lorries. When Chris sat with her in her kennel this afternoon, she snuggled right up and put her head in Chris's lap - aah. Can see this little lady being snapped up very soon. In contrast Millie is a lot quieter and a little wary, but a sweetheart nevertheless who walked nicely on her lead. Not surprisingly it was a very quiet day for visitors, but this did give Ruth a chance to catch up on some of the dreaded paperwork, and some general sorting and tidying to be done. Don't forget the Daybreaks 15th Birthday Bonanza Online Auction started today. Lots of great items for 2 & 4 legs alike, all to raise funds for the fabulous boys & girls in our care. Pop on over to the Daybreaks Trust Chat Group Facebook page, click on the Events tab, and have a browse and a bid! The diary looks very quiet for the weekend again - but you never know. It won't be a glass of chilled white wine I raise later - may have to be a drop of the hard stuff to keep out the cold!! Whatever it is though, the wishes are for forever homes for our amazing Greys, and big thanks to our volunteers for all their help.
