It is with great sadness that we have today said goodbye to Lucy. The cancer had spread to her lungs and was beginning to take its toll on her. We have so enjoyed looking after these past few months - a great character with a love of life and so loving. I wish we could have had more time with her, loved her so much. We'll never forget our lovely, loving Lucy. Sleep tight little one. Beryl

Hi Sharon83. I hope it wasn't me you emailed tho I have Virigin Broadband and its not very reliable so if you did email me please give me a ring as I promise I have checked it recently and have nothing outstanding. Like Ina and Medaftboutdogs said we set up the greyhound classes as the greys are very different to 'real dogs' and most 'normal' dog trainers have never trained a greyhound or if they have tried then they claim that greys are stupid or .. what was the other word ...defiant which in my experience is totally wrong BUT if you don't train them correctly you can do a lot of pyschological damage to them. My class is on the South of Bham about 3 miles along a straight dual carriageway from Junc 3 of the M42 and an easy journey to the Hall, Sally's is in the North of Bham and easy to get to as well and I'd really recommend that you come for at least the 4 free weeks so that you can understand how your greyhound thinks and learns. I understand its not easy when you work etc etc but it is worthwhile finding time to come to our training classes. J x

Sunny
Over the Rainbow Bridge
Sunny seems 2 be settling reasonably well but as he is so possessive over toys there have been a few growls when Cally or Mystic have tried 2 play with 1 of the toys (even tho we have multiples of the same toys). even tho we keep tellin him not to our 18yr old son left his coat in the lounge with the dogs n it got chewed up (maybe now he'll listen to us). The biggest problem we're having at the moment is barking and growls between them (usually at about 2am) but it sounds more like its Cally instigating it. We've been getting up n letting them out into the garden for a few mins n then they settle back down n are quiet for the rest of the night (Cally nor Mystic have ever had a problem with barking during the night b4). Other than when toys are involved there is no barking/growling between the 3 of them during the day. He is a lot calmer now when we have food in the room n he doesnt really try n snatch it off us, but we're still having to hold him back to stop him from eating the others food. Any advice that any1 can give re the barking and the chewing of things would be much appreciated xx

Hi Pipnat - glad to hear ur still trying and i know it is hard work !! Our Toby was very keen with our cat George when we first had him, it took a month to get them on the same floor as each other - but it was so worth it. We introduced them gradually with much praise on both sides (the dog gate was a very good investment) in time Toby realised that George lived here and was in charge and even gave his bed up wen the cat nicked it !! George has since come 2 terms with our 2nd grey - Jo and our foster boy Will. Will really lked George 2 start with and we had a near miss (our fault) but now allows George to mill round his feet (collar tightly held) miowing loudly with a "thats a funny dog" look on his face !! Still work 2 do but I hope our experience show that they will find their order and adapt x

Hi Sharon83, I was wondering when I read your thread, where you live? I'm sure one us will be near enough to show you how to get to either of the training places/take you there. I started out going to Julies (Like Kallie its miles & miles for me to get there) and have now switched to Sallys (Nrth Brum). Hope we can help you out.

Miss goldikova, you cheeky little devil chasing the poor cat haha! goldie is a young bitch who loved racing so fluffy things running off are going to attract her attention at first, but with persistent and fair training (with the guidence of the staff at daybreaks) im sure she will get over it and settle down!! shes an amasing greyhound, one to keep hold of, you won't find a more loving grey! i miss her already so give her a big hug from me 🙂 xx
