Sunny
Over the Rainbow Bridge
Hi Jenny, what are you feeding Sunny on, how long are his walks, and how often are they as all these factors will make a massive difference to behaviour. Give him things he can chew on such as long lasting chews or use a muzzle - he CANNOT chew things he shouldn't whilst wearing this! There is an article in this issue of the Grapevine all about chewing..... our Shrew did this when we first had her - we soon learnt to use the muzzle even though we felt cruel doing it to start with.

Sid
Over the Rainbow Bridge
It's very early days and Sid's world has just changed so much. He was used to just a kennel and the runs and now he is in a house... amazing and probably a bit of a shock to his system!! He probably feels comfortable in the room he's in and as he settles will get more adventurous. When we first had Lola she wouldn't come into the lounge when the tv was on so she lay in the hall. She got over it after a few days. Even now the girls sometimes prefer to stay in their room rather than join us in the lounge in the evening. We just let them get on wih it. As for tempting him out of bed to go for a walk.. been there too and I'd just carry on if I were you. We still sometimes have to do that with lazy Lola when it's time for last pee before bedtime. Lena on the other hand just wants to please us so she's there in a blink for walks etc It's early days and he's learning the routine so keep going. You might soon have a dog who is glued to you!! PS If you can make it to any of the training classes it's great to talk to other owners of greys who can share their experiences with you. Even if you only go for the 4 free sessions ... xxx

Sunny
Over the Rainbow Bridge
Unfortunately it is starting 2 look like we're not going 2 be able 2 make Sunny a permanent member of the family. He's destructive behaviour is escalating n he is now chewing through closed boxes 2 get at the things inside them, he has chewed thru a laptop power cable whilst it was plugged in n its getting things out 2 chew that were stored behind book cases etc. We have been making some progress when it comes 2 mealtimes and he is learning he cant eat the others food until they've had their fill. He was able 2 open doors which when the cats are in the house is not a good thing but we've now changed the handles n he can no longer open them (n neither can the kids lol). For about the last 5/6 days Cally hasn't been herself n seems very unsettled n we're not sure if this is 2 do with Sunny, they all get on n we even have photo's of them lying on the bed 2gether (which she took nearly 3 wks 2 do when fudge 1st arrived). Would gratefully appreciate some advice. Thanx xx

Ellie-May
Over the Rainbow Bridge
Hi....I hope that both you and Ellie May are Ok and have got over your ordeal. You have my sympathy on this one. I've come across this type as well. These and the ones who let their dog come up to yours (he/she's just wants to say hello... well mine wants to eat yours....) when they can either see the muzzle or see you are holding your dog on a short leash. Or even worse those who are completely oblivious to what their dog is doing because they are miles in front/behind/texting/on the phone...... Rant over! Lena isn't good with other breeds so can imagine how you felt but strangely seems to be better with a lot of staffy types having met 2 lovely friendly examples of these on our canine massage course! Anyway.... hope you never have the misfortune to meet them again........xxx

Sid
Over the Rainbow Bridge
Its Sid's 4th day with us..He is doing well and doesnt seem bothered about the cat much, although last night the cat bolted past the kitchen and Sid did try to chase him.It was all okay, the cat was abit shocked but he went to sleep after. Its weird Sid seems to stay in one room all the time..do you think he is scared to come anywhere else? i know it is still early days but its strange that he wont come anywhere else in the house...apart from that he is such a lovely dog but very lazy when we take him for walks he doesnt want to get up from his bed we have to tempt him with a treat in the garden before we take him,Is it bad that we do that just to take him for a walk?
