Stefan and I were so committed to homing a greyhound, but even we underestimated how hard it might be. We too had to return one after a very stressful week in which Clara both melted and broke our hearts, so don't be too hard on this family. We have been really surprised how long our greyhounds have taken to settle and I think we are only now seeing their true characters. Both dogs are amazing, we have had them 10 months and they both love Darcy the cat and are happy and able to communicate with us really well now....it does take a lot longer than a week and perseverence and understanding is key, but you also have to look after yourselves and your existing pets, it's a tough decision to adopt, but one I will never regret....I'll never want to own any other breed of dog and I thank daybreaks every day for our two waggy babies xx

Well, less than 24 hours after returning from the vets un-x-rayed as the machine had broken, part of Perdi's shoulder blade cut through the skin and was protruding, we dressed it securely and took her to the vets for opening time. She has had a second op, this time to remove some of the bone and round off the remaining bone and she is back home recovering. She seems much more comfy now and we are really hoping that she now finally starts to improve...it's been a terrible nightmare. Paddy has been a total star. xx

Hi Mand, that's what the vet told me to feed mine when they had poorly tums - they thought it was great! They were also given a probiotic too (which cost an arm a leg) but I suppose yakkult would be a cheaper and more readily obtainable alternative? Hope she feels better soon <hugs> Em x

Lily and Leyla are back. It seems the family's existing greyhound has found them too stressful also..... so very sad.... Young greyhounds can be very bouncy but with time and patience do settle and equally existing pets learn to live with the new additions.

Our little girl is still poorly with an upset tummy. She's been on just chicken and boiled rice since Friday. Is this the best thing to give her? She's not too bad in herself (perhaps just a little low in mood, but who wouldn't be), she isn't being sick and isn't off her food at all! Mand x

Oh dear. I hate to break this news, but it is quite normal for it to take longer than a week to settle into a completely new and alien environment where you don't understand the language, rules, new noises, sights and smells - it must be bewildering for them. I'm sure these pretty girls will find their forever home soon xxx

    Over the Rainbow Bridge

Rocky update - he is settled in suprisingly quickly. On friday night he decided he didn't need to sleep in our room any more so he slept in one of the beds on the landing. Last night when we went up to bed he was actually lying side by side with Beau in Beau's bed although he did move up to the landing during the night. He has met our daughters Jack Russell, Milo, and after an initial barking session at him, he is now fine with him and Tilly our lab. We can honestly say that his only minor problem has been barking at non greys, but with a severe "no" that is getting better. He is a really sweet dog and we would love to keep him but unfortunately as we already have Tilly and four greys it is impossible. We have had no barking when he is left and to be honest the only other time he barks or whines is to tell us that its food time. We hope someone will be able to give this handsome chap a new forever home.

Can't believe he hasn't been chosen. Are people put off by his size ? Ouy Sam is a big boy, but the most gentle hound, fab with kids and even kisses the cats !!! Don't be put off by a big dog....they can really curl up small especially when they snuggle up to you xxxx
