Dexter (Alley)

A big cuddle to Alley tonight, he had his neutering op today. He had to stay later than normal with the vets because when he came found from the anaesthetic he was very stressed and needed sedating to calm him down. Poor lad. He was ok when I picked him up tonight and enjoyed his dinner. Hoping he will feel better tomorrow. Xxx

Daybreaks Diary!

Yvonne had her work cut out for her today when we saw Vulcans kennel on our arrival. He had a little accident during the night and had managed to walk in it and then jump back on his bed! As usual she did a marvellous job and it was soon sparkly clean again. :)) Poor Bruiser had been rather stressed during the night and had managed to pull some of the plastic covering from the ceiling of his kennel. 🙁 It must be so scary for some of the dogs coming to a new kennels, not knowing anyone or understanding what's happening to them. Hopefully he will soon feel more settled. Xxx Another new arrival today, little Topsy! She is a very happy girl. After Lucy and I bathed her she ran madly around the treatment room and loved being wrapped in the towels! :)) We had a visit from Klaire, Florence, Sam and Russ. Due to the lock down they haven't been able to meet up for such a long time. It was obvious how happy Florence and Russ were to see each other and they had a lovely time in the sand run. 🙂 Xxx We also saw another old friend Lorraine with Norah. (with an H) Al and Sonny. Fingers crossed everything will go according to plan and by the end of June we will be able to see more of our Daybreaks Friends. Xxx Thanks so much to everyone for your help today. Xxx

It was lovely to see Russ today. He came along with Sam, Klaire and Florence to use the sand run. It was great to see you all again....it's been a long time! :))

When Topsy arrived this morning she had the rather unglamorous name of Double....with her Trainers consent Klaire who was visiting the kennels with Florence, Russ and Sam renamed her Topsy! :)) We all thought it suited her happy personality! So a very warm welcome to little Topsy. :)) Xxx

I met lovely Vulcan today and took him for a walk. The phrase "gentle giant" is perhaps sometimes over used but it fits this lad to a tee. He is a big dog but you'd hardly know it. He stands patiently while you put his lead on and get him ready. He walks easily, no pulling given he is a strong lad. We only went locally but he greeted the big wide world in a laid back easy going fashion, he was a pleasure to take out. Had the weather been better and more time available it would have been nice to visit Brueton park with him(Norman take note!)I think he'd enjoy meeting other dogs. When we got back a little wet thanks to the rain, Vulcan just leaned into me in true greyhound style while we dried off and then settled on his bed. This boy is fab, lovely brindle colour and a delightful calm friendly attitude. I wouldn't be surprised if he was cat friendly when he gets tested. For Vulcan to still be here next week would be totally illogical, if I had space he'd be mine xx

Russ
Over the Rainbow Bridge
Yesterday was another greyt day!!! First of all we went to Castle Bromwich Hall Gardens and it was great to help water the plants. Me and Florence really enjoyed ourselves. After that we went off to Pets At Home!!!! Omggggggg it was Doggy heaven! Toyssssss and treatsssss everywhere!!!! I tried to eat everything but wasn’t allowed. Rude. We got to the toy section and I tell you there were loadssssss of toys. Florence wasn’t interested, I don’t know why they are amazing. I tried to show her by stealing a pizza that was on the shelf. I ripped the tags off and played with it in the middle of the isle. She still ignored them! What’s great about that is I got another toy as the hoomans had no choice hehe!!! I also got a hotdog! This morning we went off to the kennels to use the run! Shame it was just me and Florence but hope everyone is ok! It was great. Florence was barking at me like a lunatic trying to get me to play, I wasn’t having any of it. I chased after the ball and Florence followed. We had a great time. It was so good to see everyone and thanks for all the fuss. Especially from Auntie Kate she gave me loads!! I will see you all soon. Florence I hope you get home safe it was amazing to see you after a long time. Thanks for the company. We had a lots of fun and I can’t wait to see you again and invite you down to our caravan. So it seems I’ve been transported back to Birmingham! It is so lovely to see Auntie Deborah, Uncle Ian, cousin Samantha and my very handsome Russ again after so long. I’ve had a very exciting few days, Russ has told you about some of it, and this afternoon I got to see some more of my favourite hoomans and had lots of cuddles........ tomorrow I get to come to Daybreaks’s, I iz so cited! Can’t wait to see everyone. Lubs to you all Florence xxx

Daybreaks Diary!

I met yesterday's new arrivals this morning, they are gorgeous as were our two new arrivals today, the handsome boys Vulcan and Bruiser! Don't be put off by their names, Vulcan loves to jump up and put his paws on your shoulders and give you a hug!! Bruiser is recovering from a broken hock :(( Thanks to our Wednesday walkers as always and to Denise and Chris for all their help. It was Auntie Ruth's birthday today, she had a corn to deal with and Asbo Arrys poorly paw! She knows how to celebrate a birthday :))) There were also several sand run bookings, give the kennels a call if you would like to book a slot, it's not just for greyhounds, any breeds can come along and you will be the only booking in your allocated time slot. Well, I am looking forwards to meeting Auntie Klaire, Florence and Russ Bouquet tomorrow with my motley crew for some fun in the run (I wonder if Arry will forget he has a 'poorly paw')? It will be Coopers first experience of the run, so hoping all goes well. As always, stay safe and well everyone. X
