How sad and distressing for everyone involved.

Hi Deb, having read your comments on Fizz so far it is clear how hard you have worked with her and along with your help with Maisie, no one can question your dedication and commitment to giving these greys the best possible chances. I can totally empathise with your feelings as Roxy once got my cat after he ran in the front door as she was waiting to go out for a walk. She'd never shown any interest until then but as soneone else has said instinct kicks in and you couldn't have done any more than you clearly already did. Fizz will appreciate all you've already taught her which will help her find a new home. I hope you feel better soon both mentally and physically. Love and hugs, Laura and Roxy xxx

A Seat Alhambra or Ford Galaxy or similar, with the two back seats removed - there's still plenty of room for 5 inside as well. Sadly we traded ours in for a smaller model before we knew we were having greys...

Hi Deb, I hope it helped when I phoned you..... I know how heartbroken you are.... Fizz will find a home soon I am sure. It is always very difficult in the early days in homes with cats and nothing can be worse than going through what you did but you are doing what you feel is best for you and your family x

Hi Sylv, sorry to have not replied to your message sooner, not had access to a computer! It must be so hard not having your lovely Mindy around; I have yet to experience such a loss so can only imagine how sad you must still feel. As you say time is a healer and I am sure Flossie and Minty are doing their best to cheer you both up. Love Kate xxxx

Deb, I think you have dealt with the very thing us other greyhound owners dread (catching a cat), no matter how sweet and loving these dogs are, there is a deep instinct, which once takes over, we cannot stop. You are doing what is best for your family, your pets and Fizz, your decision is made through love, you are not giving up on her, but giving her another chance. My heart goes out to you and your family, I hope Ellie Cat pulls through and that your injuries will feel better soon...Ruth will find Fizz another home, she will always be in your heart, you are doing what's best for Fizz and that is amazingly unselfish, take lots of care, you are in my prayers xxxx

Many thanks to Ruth and Rob for looking after The Wizz so well, he looks incredibly fit and back to his old self. He seemed to be really pleased to be back home and spent Saturday eve asleep on the settee with his head on my knee. We had been on a long walk along the canals on Saturday afternoon and apart from showing interest in a snappy Jack Russell he was good as gold and coped with a labrador and a couple of small furries of indeterminate breed. In the park on Sunday he was really good yet again. He has such a funny face and sits and looks at you with a vacant expression when you ask him to do something he's not sure about. It was so the right decision to home him permanantly. It looks like Daybreaks had a fantastic day on Saturday and i'm amazed at the number of dogs who have been reserved and homed whilst I was away, yo!!!Keep up the great work Ruth and co xxx

Ooh, well done Lachy, sounds like you might have a home if the logistics can be sorted out! The car with the biggest boot we could find was the Honda Accord (believe me - I looked for 2 years!). This can comfortably fit 4 greys if one of the back seats are down, but that doesn't help if you've also got to fit in 3 kids :0/ Unless anyone else has any ideas, I don't think you'll get a 'car' which will do the job - it'll have to be a people carrier/MPV of some description. My husband has got a new van and is currently selling his old one - it's a Citroen Dispatch (like the RGT animal ambulance) but it has windows in the back and back seats which clip in and out to make it an MPV. We used to use this to transport the kids and dogs around before I got my Accord, and the greys fit in a doddle. Let me know if you'd like to see the van, or if you'd like to see how you get on trying to fit everyone in the Accord! Em x

    I’m Homed

As i write this message I am totally distraught. There has been a terrible accident here this evening & I am completely devastated. Ellie Cat has fallen off the fence into the garden & has been seriously injured by the girls. It all happened SO quickly that I was just unable to prevent it - I am absolutely, totally responsible as Fizz hadn't got her muzzle on & the guilt I feel is almost too much to bare. I jumped straight in to rescue Ellie & received some nasty injuries as a result - both dog & cat bites. It was an horrific accident & we rushed Ellie straight to emergency to try to save her. She was clearly in shock & had several wounds. The vets initially suspected she had a punctured lung, but thankfully x-rays showed her chest was clear. She was given oxygen, pain relief & put on fluids for the shock. We have since heard that thankfully she has stabilised & I am praying that she will pull through the night. Only time will tell. I went off to A&E for treatment to my swelling arm & fingers - X-rays showed nothing is broken, just very deep, sore puncture wounds, bruising and swelling. We are all in shock here - I am so incredibly upset that I cant begin to tell you. We love Fizz to bits - she is the most gorgeous, sweet natured girl & she is just absolutely not to blame for what was a terrible accident. I blame myself completely & utterly. As a family, we have talked lots about our options moving forward. The last thing we want is to lose either Ellie or Fizz, but all things considered we feel it would be unfair on both of them to have to cope with the stress of living together. So reluctantly, however heartbreaking it is to lose her, we are going to have to let this little princess go. The family who gives this beautiful pup her forever home will be the luckiest people in the world - she is the lovliest, cuddliest, lickiest, waggiest beautiful girl. I am too sad for words that her forever home is not to be with us. Fizz, we love you so much & you will be missed for a very, very long time. I am SO sorry that I have let you down so badly - I doubt that I will ever forgive myself. Ruth, there are just no words to express how awful I feel & how sorry I am that I have allowed this to happen. I am completely devastated to have let both you & Fizz down, but also to have let down every grey owner who knows just how wonderful these gentle dogs are. Fizz is absolutely not to blame - I just hope you can find it in your heart to forgive me. Deb.

Eating well, behaves wonderfully...we adore him xxxx Anybody know of a car that will fit 3 children and 4 dogs ? Have looked at volvo 70 but not big enough for 4 dogs....any ideas let me know xxxxx
