Hi Sylv, it must be so sad for you all. I will be thinking of you tomorrow when you take Flossie and Minty out for their away day to scatter Mindy's ashes; please give her one more hug from me. Love Kate and Twiggy. xxx

Hi Kate, Well not too well at the moment. I understand how Maisie's mom felt when she looked up at her, Mindy had started doing the same. She started crying late afternoon & evening(the vet said it was probably the weight on her back), the tumour now larger than a football & the weeping had come back with a vengeance. So we did what we had to. She is going on her trip tomorrow with daughter Flossie & Auntie Minty, that will be a bad day I feel. Thank you for your thoughts, hope Twiggy's well. Sylv & John xxx

Thanks Deb - A La Bark Baking, yep got that, it's marvellous but I'd run out, lol, better get some more baking done then! Well, thank heavens, all the boys slept the night through: - Ged chose the junior bed, Sky went in his day basket and Jack went on the floor next to me (on a quilt) then gravitated to the bed. I've every confidence Ged and his new family will make Forever Friends :-). And, for the very first time Ged has felt confident enough this morning to go back to his bed and leave me in the office - bless. They've all got a lot sleeping to catch up on!

I can recommend the doggie cook book the kennels stock you can make cheap doggie treats from items in the kitchen cupboard which are tasty and additive free!

Day 5 of Ged's holiday... discovered the little man is allergic to food colouring in treats - it makes him hyperactive,. It wasn't funny to see him running around like a mad thing and then not be able to get his breath properly for ages - I nearly called the vet! No more manufactured treats that aren't 100% safe, lol! He had a great run around the garden this morning but recovered his breath in no time at all! Makes me laugh 'cos he's crazy to get out of the gate / door first, but once out is absolutely calm on the lead. He will be so pleased to go to his new mum and home - the poor little sossidge will then be able to settle as he's not getting as much sleep as he would like (neither am I, heh heh but that's okay). He is so lovely and when he tries to wag his tiny stump it's so sad - this chap deserves his lovely new family and home. Speaking of whom, his new mom visited and I couldn't believe it when Ged clearly remembered her - and especially the handbag, lol...

Maisie and her family's story is a wonderful reminder and example of just how much we are needed in terms of not only giving these wonderful boys and girls a loving, caring home but also of their capacity to add such massive pleasure and love to us personally. My cuddle today goes to Maisie's family. Love you all. Alison and with love from Jill, Sky, Jack and Ged

I always check in from time to time on Maisie's progress and can't stop crying at this sad news, my thoughts are with the court family who gave her the most fantastic 7 months of her life, you are all in my thoughts. She truely was an inspiration, it is always a hard decision to make but it sounds like she was asking for your help for the final time. We also have an old girl who will be celebrating her 11th birthday this year. Bless you all. Sharon and Garry Cockerill

Maisie
Over the Rainbow Bridge
reading this has made me cry as it just shows how much you loved her and how much she trusted and loved you. i shall never forget the first time i saw her when Ruth picked me up at the airport and Maisie was in the van. i cried all the way back to Derby because she was in such a bad state. i saw her again a few weeks later when you brought her to see us at the kennels and she was such a different girl. Debs the love and care you gave her made her life very special and she is bound to have left a huge hole in your hearts, most of us here will know how you feel right now and i am sending my love to you all hoping that the happy memories of this very special little lady will help you over the loss. Ina xxxx

Really pleased for you Meg and glad that you have a new home. I am sure you will give your new owners as much happiness as your sister Rosie has brought to my family and I. These 2 girls are lovely and if you want the sisters to meet up, then Ruth has our contact details.

Maisie
Over the Rainbow Bridge
Hi everyone. Just wanted to say sincere thanks to you for all the support & kind wishes we have received since October & after our very sad day on Tuesday. It has taken until now for me to be able to read your lovely comments through my tears - i have taken much comfort from them all & from the beautiful card that I received fro Ruth. You are such kind people. Those of you who met Maisie in Oct will remember what a terrible state she was in & I think we all new even then, that she was a very special girl. She truly was unbelievable & her fighting spirit meant that her recovery was absolutely incredible. She loved her food, her walks & runs, her sisters (even Ellie the cat) & of course the unlimited love & cuddles that are always available here. She had recently taken to digging holes in the back garden & if you could have seen her razzing around the park with Ebony, you would just never have believed it!!!! It truly was a sight to behold . . . Maisie has been really well with no apparent changes recently - she had her usual walk on Monday morning & although she wasn't too interested in her breakfast, she still had her metacam with some pate. She did look a little wobbly as the day went on, but then suddenly at teatime her back legs slid from under her & she never got back up on her own. I sat & cuddled her right through the night, hoping & praying that a good rest & massage might mean that by the morning she would show some improvement, but sadly it became clear that she had no control of her rear end at all. She stopped stretching her legs & became incontinent as the night went on. I kept her dry, changing her bedding over & over, repositioning her as she gave me 'the look' I had come to recognise as Maisie asking for my help. She was warm & comfy as she slept, lifting her head at intervals just to check i was still there . . . as I watched her beautiful eyes, I knew that it was her time 🙁 The vet diagnosed a spinal/disc collapse which had caused the paralysis & there was nothing to be done for my baby, she was just too tired. The time had come to let Maisie run free forever 🙂 Our house is a very, very sad place just now, but I know that I will always have my precious memories of special times with my beautiful brave girl. I will be forever indebted to Ruth for entrusting Maisie into my care, & for that I thank her from the bottom of my heart . . . My beautiful sweet girl, we will love you forever & never, ever forget you . . . run free angel XXXXXX
