Since having my 3 beautiful greys my garden has disappeared - well the grass has. I want to get rid of the grass but not sure what to replace it with. I have thought of paving but the garden is on a bit of a slope so I think that would be a night mare - not sure about gravel - anyone any suggestions? Thanks Liz

Sorry for the lack of contact recently, we have been planning our wedding and we got married on 27th May. We took the dogs on honeymoon with us and Perdi had an accident (see notes on her profile), but I'm determined to give you all a proper and positive update of their progress. Both dogs loved our honeymoon in Devon; beaches (not keen on sea, it moves too much and tastes horrible, no matter how often you try it!), woodland walks and open space, they were actually smiling and laughing on the last day, I swear! Before that, they've been doing great, they're showing their true personalities now and they are the most amazing and adorable dogs. They are firm friends with Mr Darcy, he sleeps curled up next to them sometimes, alternating between them, and sometimes they all pile on a bed together 🙂 darcy keeps them in order with the odd hiss and swipe, just to remind them that he's secretly fierce. He chews perdi's ears sometimes and 'bats' her with his paws and after a while she sometimes barks at him, at which point he hisses at her and stops! They are very good with other dogs and great on their leads, they even coped with a pack of pomeranians on our honeymoon (they were a bit scared of them actually...lures that make a lot of noise and chase you...how strange!) We love them so much, they love each other and we are all very happy. Just need Perdi to get better 🙁 Paddy also picked up a minor injury, a sprain and a cut, but he's mending really well and bouncing around as normal really, he's being a very good boy without Perdi xx

I'm sorry to report that our little girl had a terribel accident on the last day of our honeymoon in Devon and is currently being treated at a specialist vets. We decided we wanted Paddy and Perdi with us on honeymoon and went to a fabulous dog-friendly complex of holiday cottages with loads of open space and an 8 acre woodland. The dogs had an amazing time and were full of beans on the last day, we thought we'd take them for one last run around the woods before going home and something happened to Perdi...we don't know what. After 5 days of treatments and nursing both at vets and at home, we now know she has a shattered shoulder blade and two partially ruptured ligaments on her knee, all on her right hand side, two big wounds and lots of blood loss have meant she's been very poorly and we've been desperately worried. Today I can report better news: her blood count is back within a normal range (helped by mummy's tempting treats of salami, cheese and peanut butter sandwiches and little meals loaded with sardines) and her liver enzimes are better too, we agreed to hospitalise her on wednesday so she could have better pain-relief. I've spoken to the vets (for the hundredth time) this morning and they are re x-raying her chest today (she has a pnuemothorax?) and if the air in her chest is at an ok level and she can tolerate it they will attemopt to reconstruct her shoulder today. She is such a brave girl and we are so proud of her...will keep you posted - Becky, Stef, Paddy and Mr Darcy

Birthday cake for Ged to share with Jack and Sky is in the oven. Let's hope I don't burn it, lol. He is such a super boy and wonderful company - he listens hard and never answers back, tee hee. So far today he's had an almond oil massage, teeth brushed (that didn't go down very well), scrambled eggs (free range of course) and toast for brekky. Off ot make him a birthday card now. Fi, Charlie, Fly, and Sue, I'll also make some from you 🙂 (Yes I am QUITE dotty, lol.)

Over the Rainbow Bridge
Today is turning out to be a tough one! Its the first day since losing Maiz that I am at home on my own - i've got my other 3 girlies here, but they are missing her so much too! They are very sad and quiet. They have been off their food & even the park isn't such great fun without her. It is SO quiet here & I miss my little shadow. I just feel lost without her, I really do. It is incredible that her life & loss has had such an effect on us all! I guess we will come to terms with it, but at the moment, there is a very big hole in my heart 🙁 I miss you sweet girl x

Hi Sylv, it must be so sad for you all. I will be thinking of you tomorrow when you take Flossie and Minty out for their away day to scatter Mindy's ashes; please give her one more hug from me. Love Kate and Twiggy. xxx

Hi Kate, Well not too well at the moment. I understand how Maisie's mom felt when she looked up at her, Mindy had started doing the same. She started crying late afternoon & evening(the vet said it was probably the weight on her back), the tumour now larger than a football & the weeping had come back with a vengeance. So we did what we had to. She is going on her trip tomorrow with daughter Flossie & Auntie Minty, that will be a bad day I feel. Thank you for your thoughts, hope Twiggy's well. Sylv & John xxx

Thanks Deb - A La Bark Baking, yep got that, it's marvellous but I'd run out, lol, better get some more baking done then! Well, thank heavens, all the boys slept the night through: - Ged chose the junior bed, Sky went in his day basket and Jack went on the floor next to me (on a quilt) then gravitated to the bed. I've every confidence Ged and his new family will make Forever Friends :-). And, for the very first time Ged has felt confident enough this morning to go back to his bed and leave me in the office - bless. They've all got a lot sleeping to catch up on!

Day 5 of Ged's holiday... discovered the little man is allergic to food colouring in treats - it makes him hyperactive,. It wasn't funny to see him running around like a mad thing and then not be able to get his breath properly for ages - I nearly called the vet! No more manufactured treats that aren't 100% safe, lol! He had a great run around the garden this morning but recovered his breath in no time at all! Makes me laugh 'cos he's crazy to get out of the gate / door first, but once out is absolutely calm on the lead. He will be so pleased to go to his new mum and home - the poor little sossidge will then be able to settle as he's not getting as much sleep as he would like (neither am I, heh heh but that's okay). He is so lovely and when he tries to wag his tiny stump it's so sad - this chap deserves his lovely new family and home. Speaking of whom, his new mom visited and I couldn't believe it when Ged clearly remembered her - and especially the handbag, lol...
